Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase. Pros: It does discriminate between precious metals, as a group, from nonprecious metals. And, you can set it to only detect precious metal - for which it emits a unique a high pitch beep. Thus, it does provide a clear advantage when seeking only precious metals. Tiny targets, like earrings & rings, were detected from about 1 to 3 inches away in the house - not any further than that. It is made of very sturdy premium material. It weighs significantly more than expected but is reasonably light weight and comfortable for extended use. Cons: It does not remember settings when turned off; it is annoying/unsettling to hear the beeping and having to quickly enter your favorite settings every single time you turn it on. It only takes about 10 to 20 seconds to enter those settings, though. The pick/shovel is smaller than expected but it is very heavy/solid.

I have been needing a metal detector to locate my property pins. My wife was overly concerned about a neighbor's fence which compelled me to get a detector. This is a nice, compact unit. I don't need this for daily use and it was able to find my property line pins, even though they were buried under roughly 6" of dirt. Is it good for heavy duty use? I have no idea, but it has been fine for my needs. Saved myself $500 for a THIRD property survey. Pins are marked, will dig them out and put caps on them.

I needed a backup pinpointer for occasional use when someone wants to metal detect with me. I was not expecting the pinpointer to look and feel as quality as it it does. I currently use the orange "carrot" and I have never really liked it because of the one button and having to cycle through by pressing the button and not knowing where in the settings cycle it is. The Sunpro was well packed in a cloth sleeve, it comes with the standard USB-C charge cable, instruction manual and holster for pinpointer. The pointer feels quality with about the same heft of the orange carrot. A quick read of instruction manual and a power on and a quick air test with a quarter makes me think this will perform as well if not better than the other name brand. There is power level button (3 levels of sensitivity), a sound / vibration button, a light button and an on/off button. I really like the separate on/off button for reasons above. My only concern and not a big one is the unit is all black and would be easy to lose if not for it being tethered by a plastic coated spring. Easy enough to put some high visibility tape on the unit. The tether is a bit short in my opinion but I'll fix that with a retractable tether. Air test were impressive but not the 6" called out in the specifications but good none the less at 2 plus inchs on a quarter in the air. I has an 800 mah rechargeable battery that says it's good for 8-12 hours of use, more than enough for my use. All in all I would recommend based on my initial observations and my experience with the orange carrot. I suspect this will become my primary pinpointer, It is also a good price point. I'll be trying it out in the morning and will update review if it does not meet my expectations. Update: Pinpointer works fairly well but on my second day using it, I noticed that it did not seem to pinpoint as deep as prrvious day and believe it is possibly due to lower battery level?? It does feel quality but needs to be much louder. If it was louder and the lcd brighter, it would be great but needs some refinement but works great as a back up.

I keep beating this thing up and it still keeps working. Battery life seem good - lasts longer than my energy will hold up! Biggest problem is that the display is completely unreadable in normal outdoor light. Fortunately, I rarely need to change the settings. Just power on and go. I'm still new at metal detecting, though can't imagine that other pinpointers could be enough better to justify the higher price.

After a lot of research, I decided to give this pinpointer a shot. I am a beginner, and it was simple to figure out and use. Battery life is good and seems like a high-quality piece. Being able to recharge it is so nice.

This pinpointer works ok but you need to be extreamly close to the target

This handheld metal detector worked great to locate the holes and brackets for our pool step handles after the rubber deck coating company covered them over. It was easy ro use and spot-on! The only reason i didn't give 5 stars is because we haven't had the opportunity to use it for anything else so I can't be sure of it outside of what we needed. If we do, I will come back and update.

Not the best for finding small razor blades from things like pencil sharpeners
