Complicated, take your time
This was my second wooden puzzle having done legos all my life and it is doable but you need to take your time. I broke this up overall several sittings and probably spent a total of 7 hours on it. The directions take time to get used to and are very overwhelming at first. They come on a black and white sheet (like instructions you would get for an appliance), not a colored step by step booklet like legos. I think upgrading their instruction packet would help the project a lot. The pictures are pretty clear and there are multiple steps included in each picture. I canโt stress enough that you should thoroughly review and make sure you have done everything in each step before moving on to the next step as unlike legos you cannot easily unbuild this at all. Trying to take this apart will break pieces and I recommend having super glue on hand. The pieces splinter when removing them from the wood. I highly recommend quickly going over those areas with a fine file, makes the pieces much nicer looking and easier to work with. This kit also comes with pretty useless wax so I used my own wood wax but honestly Vaseline would well for greasing the gears. Note that when the directions say to wax (with the little wax symbol) you really need to do this. Grease all sides of the gears including the teeth or the project will not move smoothly. Because of the wax and splinters I used latex gloves for the project and put down wax paper on the work surface. I think the finished project is beautiful and like I said itโs doable but do not rush it and know that if trying to do it in one sitting youโll likely get frustrated.

Beautiful piece of diy decor
Beautiful office decor. Easy to assemble and fun. Light is just bright enough. The pieces fit together nicely. Map isnโt the most accurate, but itโs really not meant for accuracy. Good quality worth the price for a diy decoration.

I wish this would have been good!
Pieces are fragile and tried contacting company to get new pieces after I broke one. Would have gladly paid for the piece no reply. So the whole project is trash! :(

pleasantly surprised
I did not want to buy this globe. Not at all. I wanted to have a display globe to put on my bookshelf for no other reason than to provide a bit of a backdrop when I'm on conference calls. The problem was that this was the coolest looking globe I could find anywhere regardless of the price. I just wanted something that looked cool. The problem was that I purchased one of these puzzle kits before. Now I know that Robotime and ROKR are the same company, so that hopefully clears up a bit of confusion for everyone. The last kit I bought was a smoldering piece of kindling as far as I was concerned. I was upset because I was happily toiling away, putting it together, when an important support piece broke for no apparent reason. It wasn't the first piece to break, either. The entire experience was horrible. I put a lot of planning into this one. I wanted it to have a bit of a greenish tint to offset the cherry wood that it would be displayed on, so I used some hobby stain to accomplish that. The writing on the base didn't come out as legible as I would have hoped, so I refrained from staining the test of the areas that had important writing. The effect was much cooler than I expected, to be honest. I am not an art person. I know how to color coordinate, and I know how to stain wood. I guess, sometimes that's enough. There was one single step in the assembly that stung, though, and I can't remember where it is. I intended to include a photo, but I was in too much of a hurry to throw away all of the extra stuff that I completely missed the opportunity. One part of the assembly has two pegs that you need to slide two wooden washers each over top of. The instructions have a notation that says "4X", and what it means is that you need four total wooden washers. It is extremely easy to interpret that as needing four washers per side, and that makes sense because there are 8 in the packaging. Unfortunately, this specific step came back to bite me twice. I had a feeling that the little strips of the globe would be a pain, and they were. Overall, though, I would say that the assembly was about a 6 on a 10-scale. The finished product has two places that are not 100%. One is the gray rim around the top of the base. One of the pegs that holds that down broke at some point. The other part was the magnifying eyepiece, which has one connection that won't stay locked. This is an important part of the structure for support, so I'll have to buy some wood glue to shore that up. Otherwise, I was actually quite surprised that this turned out as well as it did.

Had High Hopes
This is the most difficult puzzle that I've attempted to put together, to date. I'm not pressing hard when trying to assemble but important pieces are being to break. Had to buy glue to put them back together since there don't seem to be any extra pieces for things like this. The instructions aren't too good either. Because this is a lighted piece, there are wires that must run in the middle of the globe. The instructions show a much shorter system than what I received. Also, as I'm trying to put the globe together, the directions mention 8 pieces but they only indicate six (and they don't tell you how they are to be placed. If I break too many more pieces (not sure if there's something wrong with the wood or poor choice of material) than I will have to give up. You're not supposed to have to use glue to put the puzzle together. Plus, it's supposed to be mechanical. I probably shouldn't have waited so long after purchase but I wanted to have something to do during Christmas break. On the plus side, at least I wasn't giving it as a gift to someone. I would have been more upset than I already am. I probably won't buy a puzzle made by this company again since I couldn't say for certainty that it wouldn't happen again. Update: April 2024. I got frustrated as things were progressing. It's been over a year since I put it down. I finished attaching the plastic globe pieces in place and the sticky strips don't stay sticky. So over time, they will pop loose. Glue probably would have been better but not sure it would make it look any nicer.
