what are the dimensions of the final product? Where is the hole located?

The base is 4"x 4" --the hole is centered from the sides and 1.75"in from the open end to the center of the hole

Can these be used to lift with a jack?

They are super heavy duty, and I know they will support a lift with a farm jack. My 20' container was empty, though; so I can't really offer feedback about a loaded container.

what size bolt is recommended and how large is the hole?

the hole is 1 inch - I used a 5/8 inch bolt with washers but you could get by with 1/2 bolt if you used a bushing and washers
