Second review. Included batteries were dead. Once I put in fresh batteries (polarity marks are on the inside, next to each contact point-really hard to see-nothing in the instructions as a visual example) the unit booted up right away. Overall instructions are minimal and hard to understand without a lot of experimentation. Once I replaced the included batteries and got it all figured out, it is a great deal for the price, though this is probably better for use on a driving range where the hitting area is rotated and relocated and you want to nail down your distances.
