After using 22 of the packet of 25 test strips and despite several other measures including buying bigger lancets, buying capillary pipettes etc I was still unable to get accurate/consistent/reliable readings for Blood Lactate measurement.Even at rest, tests performed one after the other, varied by 1mmol/L.The measurements vary far too much to perform accurate Lactate threshold tests so if you are looking for a device for that purpose this one is not able to fulfill that (see the attached picture of the 'lactate curve' it resulted in). It also requires a very large amount of blood in comparison to the other meters on the market.I have since looked into which handheld devices are best for lactate testing and it seems that the Arctic Medical "Edge Lactate monitor" and the Nova Biomedical "Lactate Xpress" (aka Lactate Plus) are superior to the others on the market (Lactate PRO, Lactate PRO2 and Lactate Scout) when they were compared in a recent trial entitled "Reliability and Accuracy of Six Hand-Held Blood Lactate Analysers".This monitor may be great for the other tests (Glucose, Cholesterol and Triglycerides) but as far as Lactate testing goes (which is the only reason I purchased it) it is unfortunately not fit for purpose.

I have used this product in a previous role and found it simple to use - however, this particular one is clunky, awkward and doesn't work in lower temperatures. There definitely appears to be a fault with this one and the plastic it is made of appears to be of a lower grade quality than my old one. I bought it for a wellbeing day and with the intention of using it for health fayres but I need something a lot more reliable than this. The fact that it took so long to get to me from Holland (I hadn't noticed where it was travelling from). The customer service were very good in getting it here to the extent that I ended up with 2 and sent one back - which I now regret seeing as how this one is faulty.I'm sorry but I really am not happy with this one.
