This thing is large!
This shoe disinfection device is easy to use but is too big for regular women's shoes. It may be my fault for not associating that it is described for use on "sports" equipment to it not fitting regular shoes. I still tried to shove it in the shoes and hoping it did something. I was really excited when I ordered this, but will probably not have much use for it, so I wasted my money. So be aware, this thing is LARGE.

Foot Health Device
Works as advertised. Have not used it long enough yet to see if it affects my foot health. Be careful not to look into the UV light, as the product document also warns you.

We all have our fingers crossed!
I am disabled and nearly completely housebound, which makes Amazon kind of like my best friend. On average, I read about 4-5 kindle books a week...my hand is mangled so kindle is awesome...I can't hold a traditional book. I order nearly all of our non-perishables from Subscribe and Save, if my condition worsens I know everything will show up on time, the household will have TP and we won't run out of toothpaste! I rent my college boy's textbooks and family-night movies, watch Downton Abbey and listen to Amazon music. And when I can't sleep I surf Amazon, ordering the odds and ends my 4 sons cant live without! The Top Portable USB Powered UV Sanitizer is just one of those things.Third Son can't live without it because his climbing shoes can kill small woodland animals and give young children nightmares; the rest of us can't live without it because we live with Third Son. All my boys are rock climbers, we have climbing shoes, helmets, ropes and carabiners all over the house. Third Son takes it a step beyond. Enters (and wins) tournaments and is training for the 2020 Olympics. Not a day goes by that he doesn't have a crack attack. His fingers itch to solve problems, when he can't get to the gym or boulder he climbs the house. When I gave him this UV Sanitizer, he promptly opened it, pulled out the instructions and unclipped his shoes from his backpack (school backpack...not climbing bag) and let out a "Yes!" The rest of us cheered louder.I read in some other reviews that it worked best with new shoes, starting fresh and clean and maintaining that state. Third Son's climbing shoes are expensive, I bought him a new pair about 6 weeks ago, they were $180...so I'm not going to get him another new pair just to test out that theory, he'll have to use the UV Sanitizer on that pair and we'll all have our fingers crossed that it will get rid of as much odor as possible. Rock climbing shoes are worn tight without socks, kind of like ballet shoes. We're hoping after a few longer treatments (to bring them up to as clean a state as possible) he'll be able to treat each shoe after he climbs for about 15 minutes each and then his helmet which isn't as offensive as the shoes. Then we may have to try his backpack and the back of the van where he always tosses his climbing equipment. He just came home from school for winter break, I just gave this to him 2 days ago so we don't have long term feedback yet. But everyone was so excited when I gave this to him, so much optimism, that I decided to post a review now and I'll update if it either fails to perform well over time or excedes our expectations. So far he's already gotten started by doing a couple of one hour long treatments. There has been noticeable improvement but I do wonder if we're just so used to the smell or maybe we're having a placebo effect so I'll definitely update. I'm giving 5 stars because this is such a great concept, why didn't anyone think of it a long time ago? And because it definitely is working. Buying the one by itself is reasonably priced, I would have liked to get my son the pair but for me, it was a bit outside of my budget and seeing as he can just sanitize one shoe at a time, I bought the single instead of the double. I can just imagine one day he'll harp to his own kids, "When I was young we had to climb a rock wall just to get to school...uphill both ways! And we only had one shoe sanitizer! Had to take turns! And thrilled to have it!"If anyone has any questions just let me know, I'll answer as best as I can.
