The HiVi D6G speaker represents a design in which the voice coil is positioned over a large thermally stabilized neodymium magnet and undercut pole piece.

Well constructed and beautiful tight bass
The speaker is fully cased in a non-magnetic metal. The only visible speaker parts are the inner kevlar spider and the dust cap/paper cone. The basket is integrated into the full casing and the mounting flange, which is thick and durable but not heavy. I installed this speaker into a 2000 BMW Z3 Roadster (HK model) with minimal modifications to the speaker mounting flange, speaker box and wiring harness (4 hours effort). The sub-woofer sounds much much better than the factory speaker that had disintegrated over time.2000 BMW Z3 Roadster fitting (HK model): Use metal band-saw to cut the speaker flange into an oval shape on left and right sides only. I maintained all of the existing speaker screw mounting holes. Use die grinder to remove excess plastic from the bottom surface of the speaker box so the speaker will sit flat on the bottom of the box. Replace 4 round head speaker casing screws with 4 flat head casing screws (again to get the speaker sitting flat on the bottom of the box). Obtain a SpeedyCut Block 6-3/4x11 (art/school supply stores carry this for print making). Use x-acto knife to cut a flange gasket (use HiVi D6G gasket as template). The green and red wires go together and the black and grey wires go together. I cut the ends off the grey and green wires and soldered them onto the black and red wires before the terminal ends. Then simply plugged them onto the speaker during assembly. Pairing the wires allows the impedance to be cut in half from 8 ohms to 4 ohms, which is perfect for the BMW amp output. I used #8 2-1/2 inch sheet metal screws to secure the speaker to the box.
