Peace of mind while taking my little companion along with me for a ride
The harness fits Noodle my 14 lb pomchi, perfectly. It did take some adjustment to get it to fit right initially. However now that is it fit to him it is a very simple matter to put on an remove. This harness is super sturdy the straps loop through the harness instead of being sewn. Which allows the strong nylon to hold firm in the unfortunate event of a crash. The straps them selves come out in large loops at the back that you can run the seat belt through. I do not use it that way, however. I attach the seat belt tether to the loops and the seat belt. I also use a dog booster car seat that is secured by the seat belt.Noodle does not mind wearing it and it does not seem to cause him any discomfort. He rides happily along and is excited when I put it on him. It gives me peace of mind to think my little companion is safe and secure as we travel.

Harness is great but DO NOT USE clip attachment (choking hazard).
4 stars because of the clip attachment which is a choking hazard and I used it according to the instructions. One day, my dog’s neck got tangled in it and she started choking while I was driving on the freeway. Thank goodness I could hear her gasping for air and gagging and was able to pull over (it wasn’t rush hour…phew!)So now I just use the harness which keeps her safe and secure. She can still move around about 1/2 the length of my car width (sedan) so it’s not too restrictive.

Worked great for me. 60 lb Dog.
When purchasing a car harness for your pet, I found the process to be daunting. All I saw were bad reviews. One isn't as good as the one before it. The other one is dangerous or doesn't fit or whatever. It was so negative that I almost didn't buy one, but I bought this one over the way it looked and how I thought it might fit my boy, Gumbo.Literally the same day it arrived, we left for a 7 day trip in the car. Fortunately, Gumbo is pretty chilled about things like this and wore it just fine from the get go.It did great!! Thankfully, I have not been in an accident with it, but I have been in traffic where I needed to hit the brakes pretty quickly and it holds him perfectly in position in the back seat.He can stand, lay, sit or even come up and stick his head up near me for a petting very easily. But when the brakes are hit and the seatbelt inertia mechanism is deployed, he stays where he is.It was a bit unclear to me how it all worked. You put the harness on the dog. Then you strap the strap to the part of your seatbelt that covers your chest when it is in place. You put the seatbelt in the closed, locked position and the other end of the strap has a spring-loaded D ring closure. That goes through the nylon straps atop the vest.Overall, this is easy to use and seems very secure in keeping Gumbo in place if I have to stop quickly. I have a car with a fairly small back seat and he is a 60 pound poodle, and we're good. He likes it and so do I.Happy travels!Edit:After a full year, this is still a great harness for Gumbo. All the negative reviews must be either from people who work for the other manufacturer of these, or maybe they just have too much time on their hands. If I hit a brick wall at 70 mph, I doubt this harness will save my dog. That is NOT why I bought it. I bought it for quick stops in traffic and such. Gumbo is lanky and somewhat prone to getting tossed around in the back seat. He has come to learn that when he has his harness on, he can fully lean forward and not worry about getting tossed into the floorboard on a quick stop. I recommend this product more than ever before after a year. I do not work for the Solvit company and I have not been given a penny from them. I am a consumer just like the rest of you.Enjoy :)

Can save lives
This harness saved my Great Dane puppies life in a 35 mile an hour head on crash. It works the fit is a little wonky when it’s tightened to the smaller size but it does the job!

harness is safe but too restricting
Harness is difficult to put on our dog. Attached to the seat belt is safer, but our dog can't really lay down or turn without getting tangled. Got to weigh the advantages - safety vs discomfort

Go by the size chart on Solvit's website and you'll get the right size. Fantastic price for a great product.
I looked at the measurement chart on Solvit's website. My 22 pound rat terrier's measurements were exactly the largest measurements for the size small. I decided to trust that and ordered the small and it fit perfectly. The instructions give you several options for attaching it to your seatbelt, depending on how much range of motion you want your dog to have. My dog likes to stick her head out the window (don't worry, I don't roll it all the way down or drive fast with her like that). She has to put her paws up on the door to do that. So, I attached the strap around the upper part of the seatbelt the way they show in the instructions and it's perfect. She can lay down comfortably on the chair, and can also stand up and put her paws on the door to stick her head out the window. But, it's tight enough that she would not hit the dash, or end up on the floor if I had to slam on my breaks.I love how solid this thing is. I can't believe it is so inexpensive. The front piece across her chest feels almost like a shield, like there's a metal plate in it. I feel so much better knowing she is safer. And once I got the hang of it, it's pretty quick to put on and off. Fortunately, my dog is cooperative, too.I also bought two Doggie No Slips for the door of the truck, so she won't slide around. I didn't find them on Amazon, but you can get them from their website doggienoslips.com or from QVC. The combination of these two products really improves her safety. I just couldn't be happier.

Works great!
This harness has been so helpful! Our 11 lb dachshund/chihuahua mix was fine in the car if she could sit in someone's lap, but she absolutely hates her crate. She whimpers and gets herself worked up into such a panic that she would salivate everywhere- even though she could see us in the car with her! We needed a solution for when only one of us was in the car, as having her on my lap while driving is unsafe. Now we use the harness everywhere we go, even when it is both of us in the car with her. She is completely fine being strapped in, and is happy as a clam laying on the bed we got her in the back seat while we're on road trips. The harness allows for the dog to lie down and sleep, sit up, or even stand with her little head out the window. It also seems really comfortable, and we use it to walk her sometimes as well. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars out of 5 that it doesn't quite sit straight on her- the soft padding/panel that sits on the dogs shoulders is always tilted to one side. This is mainly just a problem when we walk her in this harness (which we do if we've taken her on a drive to go to a park or something, as switching harnesses seems silly) That being said, that's a really minor issue, and in terms of doing what this harness is meant to do (protect the dog and keep her in her seat in the car) it does a really really great job.
