Much Nicer Than Expected ~ A Great Value For The Price
My Queen Bed from Best Priced Mattress arrived today, & while it is still airing out, I can tell you that I am very impressed so far. I uploaded a picture to the customer image gallery so people what the Queen Size looks like. This mattress expanded to its full 8" height in about 6 hours, but I cannot sleep on it yet, because of the intense chemical odor. I did lay down on it to "test drive" it for a while, & I am pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it is. I was leery of buying this bed because I have been sleeping on an airbed for 2 years, & I expected a foam mattress to feel like laying on a concrete slab in comparison - but it isn't. Not at all. It is not like the horrible foam mattresses I've encountered in motels & guest beds & spent sleepless nights on in the past. This is actually really nice. All of the foam beds I've experienced felt like a foam mattress topper laying on a sidewalk, so I was afraid to invest much, but this bed is actually quite agreeable. Keep in mind, it's not like spring mattresses which have a resistive bounce to them - & it does kind of squish around you & cradle your form where you lay (which some people don't like)...but the mattress I was sent is neither too firm nor too soft - it really is just about right. I sink into the body-conforming top layers just the right amount, without feeling like I am "bottoming out". All of my pressure points sink in at the right depths, in the right places. There may be truth to the notion that the thinner memory foam mattresses are more comfortable, compared to thick 12" mattresses, because the thinner beds lack the dense 6-8" resistive base layer of foam that makes the thicker beds so firm. When I tested it out, I was enjoying the sound of the vertebrae in my back popping back into place so much that I hated to get up... It felt great, & only my asthma drove me off the bed. About the chemical odor, I would recommend that those with allergies, asthma, & hypersensitivity to chemicals set up alternative sleeping arrangements for 4 or more days to allow this mattress to fully air out. You don't notice it right away after unwrapping the bed, but the more it expands, the stronger the odor becomes. I also bought this bed a zippered vinyl mattress cover as an allergy blocker, so together the two of them smell like the interior of a new car, splashed with a bucket full of paint... : } I shut the mattress in the bedroom, & I air it out with a fan about 4 times a day. I put the ailing airbed in the living room to use while I transition to the new bed. I have had 4 airbeds suddenly go flat in the middle of the night in less than 2 years, so for me it's worth the wait to air out just 1 memory foam mattress once - rather than 1 new air bed about every 6 months, all of which smelled every bit as strong as this bed does. Some people shaved off 1 Star for the stench, but I am giving it the full 5 Stars, because it is so unexpectedly comfortable. I never knew a memory foam mattress could feel this decent. I was terrified of how bad this was going to be, & actually almost canceled the order, but so far it's actually very nice. I manage fibromyalgia, arthritis, upper & lower back pain, & recurring nerve pain in my arms, & I think I am going to do quite well sleeping on this mattress. I have a feeling that the more I sleep on this bed, the more my back is going to realign itself to where it's supposed to be. King Size was unavailable when I made my purchase, which I prefer, but I think Queen is about the largest mattress one small person in chronic pain can lug around by themselves if I ever have to move again. One Major Con: Best Priced Mattress really needs to use better quality cardboard boxes to ship their mattresses. My box ripped open in transit, & apparently hit the ground quite hard, then at some point was retaped. When it arrived, the box contents were full of FedEx truck grime, exhaust stink, & about 10 pieces of large limestone gravel rattling around in the box. That is NOT cool, but the bed itself was sealed in its own bag, & although the bag was cruddy, & got my floor dirty, the mattress itself was not affected by the mess. Best Priced Mattress...if you really believe you make a great product...please ship it to the customer with the respect it deserves. 11/14/11 Update: The mattress & vinyl casing did take 4 full days for all of this to air out. The vinyl cover was actually more pungent & took longer to air than the mattress itself, despite having already aired it out for 2 days in my car before the mattress arrived. After 3 days passed, all I could smell was the vinyl. Really give things time to fully air out, & know that unlike regularly replacing airbeds, you'll only have to do this once. After 4 days, everything was fine. I've slept 2 nights on the new mattress, & one thing I notice is the bed really holds body heat much better than my 18" airbed, which always remained as warm or cold as the air in the room. Even though my mattress is currently lying on a tile floor, I was quite warm when I woke up, & without needing extra blankets or heating. Outdoor temps are below freezing, so it's nice, but when we return to 5 months of temps above 90F, this may be a challenge. This bed also works pretty good for sitting on propped up against pillows with a laptop PC or a book. The best thing I can report is I have not been waking up in pain because of the mattress. It feels totally different to sleep on compared to my airbed, but I wake up feeling pretty good. Overall so far, I am quite happy with this purchase. 12/20/11 Update: I love this mattress. My lower back pain has improved dramatically. It has straightened out & aligned the vertebrae in my back like nothing else I've found, except maybe my old semi-waveless water bed. Lying on it also gives the nerve pain in my arm a break. Alleviating chronic FM/arthritis pain helps the pain centers in the brain to shut down, & quit firing...which in turn promotes restorative sleep. This has been like no-hassle physical therapy for my back. Also, unlike airbeds, it is cozy on cold nights. And I no longer fear 3am *deflations*... The chemical odors are long gone. I now ask it, where have you been all my life... lol I am very glad I took the risk & bought one. This bed was a lucky find.

HEAVEN ON A CLOUD for this PRINCESS ON THE PEA!
I am not sure how anyone can sleep on any other kind of mattress now that we have this wonderful mattress. We have used every kind of mattress over the years and memory foam types are the only kind we will use since they are the best for pain relief and comfort. We have this one in queen for our bed. This is by far the best mattress we have ever used and here is why. We looked at memory foam mattresses for days on end after deciding to buy a memory foam mattress. We went to stores and tested everything from Tempurpedic to lesser priced memory foam mattresses and still weren't sure which one we should get. I know Temperpedic's reputation and love their mattresses but we didn't want to shell out 4 to 7 grand for their best mattress so I investigated the science and foam levels of their mattresses at length for days on end for weeks prior to this purchase to find the secret to their mattresses so I could apply that to finding one of equal comfort for a fraction of their prices. I found many other memory foam mattresses here on Amazon and in the stores that boasted about their 3 inch memory foam and 7 inches of base support foam but after close investigation I found that though it sounds great at first all we would really get was 3 inches of memory foam comfort and that to me is no different than a 3 inch memory foam topper. I wanted more comfort than that, and the most inches of memory foam for the price for myself and my family. More memory foam means you will sink in a lot more (less pressure points that you feel) before your body hits the other base foam. As I have back problems and Fibromyalgia (which my mom refers to as the Princess and the Pea Syndrome) I knew we had to have a mattress that would alleviate any and all pressure points such as my hips and knees. The #1 secret most memory foam mattress makers won't tell you to look for is the size of the memory foam (top portion), and the super soft foam (middle portion) vs the high density foam base (base foam). Some makers say theirs are the best because of more total mattress inches (14" 17" etc) this is not true. Height does not measure how much it will sink in. The key secret is to look for the size in inches of memory foam and to add that to the size of the super soft foam, this is how many inches of pure comfort and sink in you will really get! Temperpedic knows this as their mattress have smaller foam bases and more LAYERS of memory and super soft foams. The foam base is made of a firmer type of foam used as a foundation in much the same way as box springs are to create a firm base, that type of foam does not provide much give and is definitely not something you want to feel while sleeping so keep that in mind. This mattress has 3 inches of memory foam + 2 inches of super soft foam and that gives us 5 inches of LAYER memory and super soft foam comfort. Just what we were looking for! At first look, you may be shocked at how a quality memory foam mattress could live in such a small box, but just give it a day or so to puff back up to its regular size which it does incredibly fast, it took less than 30 mins for ours to reach 8 of it's 10 inches. This mattress is compressed tightly for shipping purposes so it will not look fluffy and soft when you first open that box. Wait to open the plastic wrap covering until you get it to the room you want it. Once its opened up, it is very difficult and hard to move around so I suggest placing it on your bed frame or box spring before opening the plastic seal. The rolled up mattress is incredibly heavy, think about getting help with this if you have back problems, and is even harder to move once the plastic wrap is taken off, hence the advice to place it on the bed before unsealing the plastic. We bought a memory foam mattress frame platform bed for our memory foam mattress as well as a Malouf mattress protector. We have added pictures of the box before opening as well as the mattress once it was opened for a few hours above. My little brother loves it and even named it Heaven on a Cloud, and we all agree!

Blown away!
I have 4 small children and now have 4 foam mattresses either 6” or 8” thick. The mattresses I got from other brands are very hard and work for my toddlers and very small children but are definitely not comfortable enough for a grown adult to sleep on. I got two of these 8” mattresses and I am blown away!! They have a much thicker layer of memory foam than other comparable mattresses making them much more comfortable and supportive for even an adult sized body. The memory foam layer is exactly the right thickness to sink in perfectly and cradle the pressure points as if you’re sleeping on supportive clouds. For the price I paid, the comfort and quality is so far above and beyond what I was expecting! I didn’t notice much off gassing but we did let them air out a couple days while we waited for the bed frames to come. The next time we need a new mattress, I am absolutely reordering!

High quality, but be warned, it's very firm
This mattress has a high quality zippered cover on it, and a non-removeable mesh inner cover. I unzipped it to look inside, and sure enough it has 3 layers: a 3" urethane foam support layer, a 2" middle layer of the same color and a 1" green memory foam top layer all glued together. However, I suspect the middle layer is the same density as the bottom. The green memory foam is so thin as to be inconsequential, mine was crushed flat from shipping and never fluffed up to 1". I've learned from experience with toppers that memory foam needs to be at least 3" thick in order to feel the effect and to contour properly to your body. You can truly feel the difference between 3" and 4", even more so between 2" and 3". This mattress feels like you're laying on a hard slab of upholstery foam (which you are). As I unpacked it and was letting it "inflate" (which took minutes, not 2 days), I stepped on it and it sprung back immediately, no memory foam indentation at all. BTW, there was no objectionable smell to it, those few who reported that must be overly sensitive. I prefer a soft sleep surface, and I recently bought a memory foam topper to put on my old pillowtop coil mattress. It was a 3.3lb., 4" thick topper (the softest you can get). The combo was EXTREMELY soft, too soft: I sunk deeply into it like a cloud! And the overall height was too tall for most sheets (15") so I bought this thin 6" mattress to replace my worn out coil spring, to act as the "support layer" under my memory foam topper. EVEN WITH the topper installed it's VERY hard. I'm guessing the combo is about equivalent to Tempur-Pedic (6.6lb.?), because I remember trying that out in the store once and thought it was too hard for my taste. My plan is to "peel" it in half (luckily the layers are only glued around the perimeter), discard the top 3" and buy a second ultra-soft topper. The result would be only 10" tall, exactly the softness level I like (as a result of trial & error), and still cheaper than buying a pre-made memory foam mattress from a retail mattress store, much cheaper than Tempur-Pedic. I'm not terribly disappointed, it's a quality built product and nothing in the ad was misleading (except maybe calling the middle layer "super soft"). They really should add a real photo to the description instead of that pictogram, it's nice looking. But soft and hard are subjective terms, and just because a mattress is advertised as "memory foam", it may not feel the way you imagine it will. If you prefer a hard sleep surface, you might actually like this. Remember, memory foam is always going to feel initially harder than a coil spring because it doesn't have any bounce to it. It's a good value for the money, you could spend a lot more. I've bought memory foam products in the past that had loose, shoddy covers that looked like they were stitched together in the spur of the moment. It would make an ideal guest bed/day bed/trundle bed mattress. It would also be ideal for camping or RV use, if that's your thing. I just can't imagine using it every day. Plus, unlike a coil mattress you don't need a truck to move it to a different house. You can fold it or roll it up and transport it in your car. Oh, and the dimensions of the foam tend to run big. My coil mattress used to fit within the rails and head/foot boards of my platform bed with a small gap all around. This foam mattress touches all 4 surfaces, no gap. Looks nice that way though, hides the sheet edges.

Good value for mattress.
I first tried a Serta memory foam mattress at a local discount home center to see if I would like this type of mattress. The Serta was soft when I sat on it, but was rather firm (hard) when I lay down on it. I prefer this, so I took the chance and bought this one on Amazon since it was less than half the price. Surprise! This one is MUCH softer, although still fairly supportive. It is like a soft pillow top mattress (see my picture of a cat's feet sinking in the surface). I do sink in some when I sleep (my weight = 165lb) and I wish it were a little harder, but it is comfortable to sleep on. I have rated it 5 stars, even though it is a bit soft, since I could not have otherwise come close to this comfort and quality for anywhere near this price. This is a bargain! Some people have complained about the smell. Yes, it has a mild smell for the first several days, but I don't find it is very obnoxious in character, and I was able to sleep on it the first night. Is it hot to sleep on? No matter what mattress I sleep on, I go to bed cold and wake up sweaty. This mattress is no worse than any other (I am using a mattress pad). When the mattress comes, it is compressed in a white plastic bag inside a floppy cardboard box (see pictures). Remove the mattress from the box immediately and move the mattress in this bag (by grabbing each end) and place onto the box springs or platform bed BEFORE further unwrapping (see picture). Do NOT cut the bag, rip the seam instead (see picture). Mine expanded to full size in under 10 min (see picture). Update 6/2/14 I was too quick to complain about the mattress being too soft. Now that it has had a few days to equilibrate, it had firmed up a bit. It is now as firm as the Serta mattress I tried, and I no longer have complaints about it being too soft.

Comfy and good quality
Surprised at the comfort of this mattress- ultimately it went to oir son because it was softer than expected but no complaints.

I too was exposed to fine fiberglass particles
[Edited 11/24/18 - see bottom] So, we have had this mattress for two years and noticed that it was getting lumpy. We could feel something knotted up under the cover. So I pulled it back to find that the firesock was in pieces and completely degraded. Now, I know what fiberglass looks like, I have worked with it in boats, cars, insulation, etc. This did not look or feel like fiberglass, it looked like fine blonde toddler hair. I started cleaning out the clumps of material that I assumed was some sort of a polyester fabric. I then got a vacuum cleaner involved to get the small stuff up. It was not until a bit of sunlight popped through the window that I realized the air was full of fiberglass particles. At this point I had been working in it and breathing it for at least 30 minutes. So I grabbed a high-power LED flashlight and discover that I was covered head to toe and our bedroom wall to wall in fine fiberglass. I previously had a more expensive USA made memory foam mattress and it was wrapped in what looked like panty hose material. We had slept on it for over 15 years and it had never worn through and it was not fiberglass. I discussed this with a friend of mine who works in the industry and he said that more brands than you might think are using fiberglass, but they are almost always the cheaper or over-seas manufactured stuff. He says that I should steer clear of any model that uses it because it simply will not last as I have experienced with this mattress. He says that fiberglass is cheap and will pass the fire certification test, but unfortunately there are no regulations that deal with the longevity or results of using it in a mattress. I have been ill for days coughing stuff up and feel like I have pneumonia. According to the doctor, it will clear with time but will likely leave some permanent damage. It is not dangerous in terms of coal mining dust or asbestos, but he says there is little research on its long-term effects. So if you have this mattress and it starts getting the lumps from the fire sock breaking down, just toss it in the garbage and move on. DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER! I know it has a zipper, just convince yourself that it does not. I do not remember reading anything about this when I received the mattress. I am looking for the limited documentation that shipped with it to verify if there were warnings about this. [11/24/18] We purchased a new bed, so while I was having this one removed, I snapped photos of the tags and have added them here. As you can see, it clearly says that the inner cover, known as a "Fire Sock", is made of glass. It also says that the outer cover is removable for cleaning. However, DO NOT DO IT! It only says not to remove the inner cover, but what else can you do if it starts breaking and clumping the way ours did? I am still having issues with breathing. I had asthma as a kid and have needed to use an inhaler a couple of times a week since this fiasco. I did find the original paperwork, but it was just instructions on how to allow the mattress to inflate to full size before using. I wish Amazon did not sell these and I am disappointed when I see similar ones at box stores like Wal-Mart. Buyer beware.

Absolutely incredible value and unbelievable comfort!
First, the explanation: my wife and I needed/wanted to replace our 9 year old queen sized Tempurpedic mattress that we purchased new. It was incredibly comfortable and suited our needs very well. Our quality of sleep was fantastic, but we finally decided to treat ourselves for our wedding anniversary and get a king sized mattress. That's where the problem arose: the queen Tempurpedic was a ridiculous $2500 back then and still is. A king Tempurpedic is close to or at $3000. We don't have that kind of money and simply couldn't justify the expense. A friend purchased a memory foam mattress for about $750 from Costco several years ago and talked about how he and his wife compared it against Tempurpedic mattresses themselves and found little to no difference between the two. That got me thinking about whether or not there was a viable budget alternative to Tempurpedic that would give us the great quality of sleep, but without denting the family budget too badly. I researched several brands on Amazon but kept coming back to this Best Price mattress. Several other reviewers spoke of the quality of sleep an durability of the mattress for them. Several outlined their own research which led them to purchase this mattress. The $360 price tag was pretty compelling. I read dozens and dozens of reviews and finally decided that even if the mattress only lasts a year or two, the $360 price tag would prove worth it. The king sized mattress wasn't available with Prime shipping, but still arrived in about 4 days. My wife surprised me by setting it up herself. We slept on it the first night and had the predictable aches/tweaks I usually feel when sleeping on a new mattress for the first time. Still though, I realized I tossed and turned significantly less than we had on our Tempurpedic. The following night I found I didn't sleep like a baby (wake up crying every 2 hours, hungry, and covered in urine). I slept like a rock (laid there immobile and completely motionless). It was incredible. Each subsequent night has been more and more of the same! The longevity of this mattress has yet to be seen, but based on the current 3400+ reviews on here (approx. 85-90% of which are all 4-5 star reviews), I fully expect it will continue to meet and exceed our expectations. I will update this review in about 6-12 months to give an idea of the longevity of the mattress. BONUS: we had to decide what to do with our old queen Tempurpedic. We knew we could give it away on Craigslist, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try to sell it. My wife argued "who would ever buy a used mattress?" I figured it couldn't hurt and asked $150 for it on OfferUp. I had well over a dozen offers which actually resulted in a bidding war. $200 later I was a happy man, knowing I just paid for well over half of the cost of the newer/larger mattress. SUMMARY: for $360, you simply can't go wrong on this mattress. The comfort level is amazing. I have been plagued by back issues for years and go to the chiropractor at least twice per month. That helps enormously, but a good mattress is simply invaluable. My back hasn't felt this good for week straight in a LONG time. I am a happy happy man!

Buen Colchon
