Terrible read, lots of waffle hiding some useful content
I bought this book following lots of fanfare on Facebook and initial positive reviews by people (though looking again these were people who clearly hadn't actually read it). I can now see why it's cheaper than most other books. It seems like the author has simply dictated in a conversational style to a typist to write it out word-for-word. I'm sure Little Britain did a sketch on this! It's a hard read, where the writing style is very waffly, meandering and hard to follow. It also contains lots of advertising for more expensive stuff. That said, there is some useful information hidden among the pages, helpfully drawing together information which is mostly free elsewhere. I'm not sure how useful the advice is about reading everything about policing and my local police force, it would take me forever. I just had thoughts about joining the police, not getting a doctorate in policing. I did take the advice of reading about the CVF seeing as that is used for assessment, though it seemed odd that the author claims that the College of Policing's CVF resulted from his own work and he’s the one to blame for its existence, yet also refers to the CVF later as 'the wheel of confusion'?The print quality is also very low. The cover deformed and curled up sat on my desk for a couple of days before reading and all the pages have bent on their own as if I'd laid it on a pencil.

Easy to read yet informative & insightful!
For someone who is yet to apply for the role of a police officer I have so far found this book really helpful, and has made me more excited about joining as a potential future police officer! As Brendan states in the first chapter, he wanted the style of book to be informal & conversational. However, I found this quite engaging! As a mum of two and for someone who is usually very tired in the evenings, it’s nice to read something in a toned down manner, yet still gives you valuable insight into the recruitment process!Overall, I am really enjoying the book so far and is great value!

Amazing Product to Kickstart Policing Career
I fully recommend this book. I went through the process of joining the police two years ago and used Brendan’s amazing online material in order to pass the whole recruitment process and this book will do just that to help other’s reach their dream. I have purchased this book which will help me refresh on my interview skills that Brendan helped me with previously. It will help me in the future when I plan to transfer forces and have to sit an interview with that force. Five star rating for this amazing material at such a good price.

Great informative book - Easy Read - Alright Quality
Such a easy read, very informative. But I do want to point out that this has been transcribed from the audio book usually this is a bad thing however it makes the book more engaging. This book essentially holds your hand all the way through recruitment and just makes sense. This book covers everything from application with competency and values all the way through to final interview. I would highly recommend!!!Now a little bad point which has nothing to do with the author or content. The quality of the book is a little poor. Pages curled and fell out however this is amazons doing nothing to do with the author.
