Awesome tool for carving styrofoam
I bought this to use to carve styrofoam blocks and it works like a charm. I didn't want to spend the $$ on a hot wire thingy and I wanted something that had a little more precision to it if needed. It takes a bit of skill (eg, patience and practice) to work it so you don't carve too deep or too far so I had some "oops" that I had to fill with gap foam but whatever, I'm not picky - I do this for fun, not a living.Pro's - heats up quickly, easy to use (wipe off frequently) and swap blades, easy to clean.Con's - hard to find the right temp so that the foam doesn't shrink and/or crystallize into a hard surface (which is hard to sand).CAUTION: wear a mask when using this to carve foam!!!!! The process gives off a dangerous gas and can produce noxious smoke. You should probably wear gloves too but I didn't and I've never yet burned myself, which is a shocker cuz I'm accident prone.Oh, I also used this to carve foam for tombstones and faux boards. Not effective for detail work IMO - I use a solder iron instead there, but it gets the heavy work done and is significantly easier than using a knife.

Powerful Cutter!
Bought this and was hesitant. After turning the temperature up and using it. It is very hot and powerful. Cuts through foam board like butter. Makes this task easy and effortless.Keep in mind it melts the foamboard. So use in a ventilated area. Not inside.Definitely worth buying. Very effect cutter.

Trigger
I love the fact that you push the trigger to get it hot and then when you're done you just let go of the trigger and put it down and it doesn't stay on like other heating cutting tools do I love this thing it's really amazing and it cuts just like a hot knife to butter

Thin bendy blades
Cuts fine, but be sure to go slow. The blades are very thin (by design) so when they're hot they bend VERY easily if you force them. Turn the heat up, go slow, let the weight of the knife do the work, and use a gentle sawing motion for best results. Also, only comes with two blades, not three as shown. Knocking one star for not coming with the third blade.

Works great don’t turn it up all the way and no smoke
Initially I didn’t adjust at all and it required extreme patience then I started increasing power and found the sweet spot for the foam I’m cutting. The safety shut off is a little annoying but if you unplug it immediately resets. Cutting lots of 4 inch curved foam for a round fiberglass RV and this is fantasticI strongly recommend practicing with the setting on the foam you want to cutI did find the adjustment being completely unmarked required trial and error

Awful Product / Blades Too Thin / Inconsistent Cut
Used this Foam Cutter once and it RUINED 01 of my Foam Brick Panels ($28 Each). This does NOT cut on all the surfaces it claims with ease. The blades are Way Too Thin resulting in a vary inconsistent cut AND bend out of shape immediately during use. They need to be at least twice as thick..I now have to replace the panel that was ruined. The instructions state for proper use, it should not smoke when cutting however to for it to actually cut,the heat needs to be high enough which causes smoking. It also MELTS the product regardless of temp and looks like crap!I applaud Amazons return policy as i can at least purchase something to finish the job that this product couldn't (ie. Dremel)... I would NEVER recommend or purchase again!
