how does this work do i just put the copper on top and screw it will the ssd and call it a day?

I saw a video online that you also need to make sure the modules on the SSD are the same height. Otherwise, the SSD won't cool properly. This has explained the complaints about some of the Samsung SSD overheating problems. This is also where the included 0.5 and 1.0mm thermal tape are best used to solve the problem. Just turn your SSD sideways and check that the black modules all rise to the same height. If not, look online for the solution, if you don't understand the solution as stated here by me. Good luck.

Yes it will. But always check laptop mgs spec s. I always pull the old memory to check the size & spec (in this case should be 2.5" long). :-)

How do i properly install this thing? it cooled my ssds down a lot but they are still getting way too hot. please help!

There are two installation methods for the heat sink, one is fixed by rubber ring, and the other is fixed by high temperature resistant tape. If you need to enhance heat dissipation, you can consider stacking (if the installation space is sufficient).
