A necessity for hair spring cleaning

Very efficient degreaser even desolves the fat in brush bristles, so be sure to clean the brush first. I use cellphane bags to keep this cleaner and functions well, no significant odor leaking according to my nose😄.

i only work on a few pocket watches, it is nice to find "one dip" in a small quantity

I'm just getting started in watch repair and have yet to reach a point where I have a watch in pieces ready to go into cleaning and then reassembly. So why do I have the One-Dip? In preparing to try watch repairs I've watched a number of other's videos showing their work and methods, and in doing so it became apparent there were certain watch parts that should not go into a number of different cleaning solutions. Shellac failure (and a few other possibilities) suggested One-Dip was the preferred cleaner to quickly and thoroughly clean pallet forks, complete balances, etc. Yeah, I've read all of the warnings about the fumes. etc. But I've been working with my hands for almost 70 years. I've worked on ships, cars, trucks and in machine shops and small factories. I'm well aware of the dangers and harm that can come from so many sources used to get any real productive work done. I'm not worried about One-Dip; I will give its due and my full attention. Looking forward to my first complete horological attempt!
