Paper Birds: 25+ Projects to Copy, Cut, and Fold Paperback – June 3, 2014

WELL, HOW CAN I SAY THIS? I LOVED THIS BOOK, BUT NOT TO MAKE BIRDS OF PAPER. I MAKE BIRDS OF FELT! I MADE MY FIRST HUMMINGBIRD FROM THE DIRECTIONS OF THIS BOOK, AND IT WAS SO NICE. I USED FELT AND EMBRODERY THREADS. SO, I'M INTENDING TO MAKE ALL OF THE OTHER BIRDS, BUT USING FELT. SO, TO ME, THIS BOOK WAS VERY, VERY USEFULL. I LOVED IT AND MAYBE I'LL WRITE TO AUTHOR ONLY TO MAKE HIM KNOW THE OTHER POSSIBILITIES OF USING THIS BOOK. AH, AND THE TAIL OF THE PEACOCK WAS FROM THIS BOOK TOO!

This book is so fun and easy to make 3-D paper birds. I have been bringing a new bird to work each week to place on the front office desk and everyone loves coming in to see what the newest creation will be. Highly recommend all 4 books by this artist.

Great for myself and for grandchildren. Add in the neighborhood youngsters and this is a winning activity.

I really enjoyed this book both as an artist and as a birder. The shapes are wonderful. The simplified colors are accurate.I have yet to actually try to make one of the birds. I am not very good at cutting out things even with a pen knife. I wish the patterns were a bit bigger. I may try to enlarge them on a copier or something. But, I think it is a wonderful book.

The cover is misleading. The book contains blank paper templates, not what I was expecting.

You get a bunch of blank templates with fold and cut lines on them to guide you in the construction of the birds. General instructions suggest using acrylic paints or some sort of colored artist pencils to add color to the birds. Would have been nice to have separate pieces so you could use different colored card stock, but then that would not be origami or kirigami. There are some birds that some glueing is suggested, which is not origami or kirigami either. There is a web link included so you can download some bonus bird templates.

Love it, good clear instructions, children will need help with the more complicated birds but everyone should be able to produce something. Bought two copies!
