The spectrum is perfect
I searched to get a full spectrum light that was similar to natural light without the blues. These lights can be turned on without the feeling of artificial light when the shades are up. They are also not overly bright or cold at night. If you are sensitive to the spectrum of light, I would give these a try.

Confusing/Poor Information — Returning these out of frustration
Long story short: If you don't have a dimmer situation like mine, I think this bulb is good lighting. Unfortunately it doesn't work with my particular dimmer switch, and Sylvania has made it too absurdly frustrating to figure out which dimmer switch will work with these particular bulbs. All I wanted to do was change my kitchen lightbulb, but somehow ended up in an absurd Kafkaesque story. It all started when a light bulb went out in my kitchen. I decided to replace it with an LED bulb since the old bulb generated a lot of heat, and I want to be more energy efficient. I saw these Sylvania LED bulbs. Their specifications sounded great, and I thought Sylvania was a reputable brand, so I decided to give these bulbs a try. Unfortunately, the bulb flickered when I adjusted my wall dimmer switch. A little more research, and I learned that new LED bulbs don't always work well with older light dimmers. Fine — I'll replace my dimmer with a new one. Well, I also read that I have to be sure to get an LED dimmer switch that is compatible with the particular brand of LED bulb. It's starting to get more complicated, but ok just tell me which switch I need for this bulb, and I'll replace my old dimmer with that....I first tried to find this info by going to their website printed on the package of these bulbs. I even found a fine print note on the package: "Lamp may not be compatible with all dimmers. For more information please visit:" and another Sylvania web address that is supposed to give info about dimmers for their bulbs. I tried going to both websites printed on the package. My browser appeared as if the page was very slow to open. I tried it a few times before giving up, and tried again. I tried to quit and restarted my browser. Still didn't work. Restarted my computer. Still didn't work. Then I restarted my home internet connection. Pages still didn't open. All other websites were working fine on my computer, so I thought maybe Sylvania is doing maintenance to their website. For the next couple days I tried to access the Sylvania websites again, but it still didn't work. Finally, I decided to call the phone number printed on the box. A couple phone menu options later, and I got through to a customer service rep who seemed helpful. I explained to her that I am just trying to figure out which dimmers they recommend to work with this particular bulb. I read her the number that she requested from the barcode. She requested my email address, and said she would send me a list of dimmers that will work with this bulb. Before ending the call, I let her know that there appears to be something wrong with their website as I tried for a couple days to access it without any luck, and I don't know if there is some kind of maintenance going on, but wanted to let her know that their website is not working in case they are not aware. Then she told me that is their old website address. They have a new website address, which she read to me. The new website address doesn't have the Sylvania brand name in it. Ok..... Maybe someone thought this new address was clever or memorable — it's not. While on the phone with her, I was able to open the new website address she gave me.We ended the call, and I waited for the email, which did arrive within the 5-10 minutes she said it would. While waiting, a thought occurred to me: "Why did they change their web address, when the old address was simply their brandname-dot-com? At the very least, they could easily have the old web address forward to the new website." I know for a fact that this isn't difficult to do. Who is making these decisions???Anyhow.... The list arrived as a pdf document attached to an email. I open the email and downloaded the pdf attachment. I open the pdf list and......... This model lightbulb is not on the list! There are columns of various lightbulb model numbers, but none of them match the model number printed on the box for THIS lightbulb. The number I read off the box to the customer service rep on the phone is not listed here, and there is nothing in the email explaining what I am supposed to do with this list. Basically, I was sent a list of dimmers that are compatible with various lightbulbs that are not the one I called Sylvania about. I replied to the email to ask how do I use this list, and let them know that the led bulb I asked her about isn't on this document. I don't know if one of the lightbulbs on the lis is compatible with this bulb I asked them about. No guidance in the email. No reply to my email. Fortunately, I still had a browser window open with their new website (because I would not have remembered the new website address). I consulted the new website I was given over the phone, and found what seems to be the same list I was emailed (ie, missing THIS particular lightbulb).So...... At this point I'm frustrated and feeling it shouldn't be so difficult to replace a lightbulb. The promise of technology and computers is that it should make our lives EASIER — not create some absurd situation of changing a lightbulb that sounds like something from a Kafka novel. It is absurd that Sylvania has created a system that has so complicated changing a lightbulb — and I imagine someone probably got paid some pretty big bucks to dream this up! I don't know if Sylvania was purchased by another company, or what.... But they have dropped the ball with this product. Evidently the information on the packaging is not current, and their current website doesn't have information on which dimmers are compatible with this bulb.I admit my current dimmer switch is old, and I'm willing to replace it... But if the industry is making light bulbs that work with this dimmer, but not that dimmer, it shouldn't be so complicated to find which dimmer will function with this bulb. Here's a crazy idea: Lightbulb manufacturers and dimmer switch manufacturers should get together and create a standard so ALL bulbs will work with ALL dimmers. In the meantime, I'll be returning these bulbs, and purchase new bulbs that have information regarding dimmer switches readily available. Thanks!UPDATE: After writing this review (but before it posted to Amazon) I did receive a reply to my email. The reply says the pdf dimmer list I received was sent in error. The email says: "The HIDr 40709, does not appear to be dimmable." Well, that's good to know — but I thought my lightbulb was model 40789. This is the number I said over the phone AND in my email. The Amazon listing for this lightbulb says it IS dimmable. The packaging says it is dimmable. There is a fine-print note on the packaging telling me to go to a Sylvania web address for information on dimmers for this bulb (but apparently the website printed on the package was removed from the Internet). When I called and read the model number, the customer service rep never said this bulb is not dimmable (despite what the Amazon listing and bulb package say).... This is beyond ridiculous, and I'm going to return these bulbs as it really shouldn't be so complicated to just change a lightbulb. I have a pretty good sense of humor, and can enjoy a good joke, but this is absurd.

No flicker with Centralite dimmer system.
LED bulbs - even supposedly dimmables - sometimes have trouble with our Centralite system, which is a digital programmable residential light management system. You can program a specific switch to be instant-on, or smooth bright/dim; the default is the latter.I went through a couple other brands that flickered at ~120Hz for whatever reason once they got to full power on our system, but this Sylvania has had zero issues. Hoping for longevity from it next. :^)

Pleasant Lights
We put two of them in glass pendants above the kitchen island. The color is true and very pleasant. Much better than the 2700k that was in there. I was concerned that 450 lumens would not be enough but they are perfect. There is no noise from them but we are not dimming them so I can't speak to that if they are dimmed. They take a millisecond to come on but it's so fast you don't notice it. Happy with the purchase so I've ordered more.
