Bucilla 18-Inch Christmas Stocking Felt Applique Kit, 86299 Snowman

I bought this kit about two weeks ago and have finished the front of the stocking. I worked on it off and on between work and family. I am making it for my two year old daughter who exclaims "that beautiful" every time she sees it and my four year old son can't wait for me to start his. I plan to add an interior lining to them both to help them survive years of Santa's visits. I must say these kits are like potato chips, can't have just one! I now have a nice stock pile of kits to keep me busy and make great memories for my children. The kit comes with most everything you need except stuffing, scissors, pins for holding pieces in place while you sew them on, and pipe cleaners for the lollipop sticks. I recommend not over stuffing the lollipops, it makes them top heavy and a bit droopy on the arms. I speak from experience, I tacked the bottom of the sticks down which seems to have worked. If you have sewing experienence these will be easy for you but still detailed enough to keep your interest. If not, the instructions are great and if you go one step at a time you'll be so proud of the results.

I made this for my baby granddaughter and it turned out even better than I expected. It's beautiful when finished, with just the right amount of detail and sparkle. The kit came with all of the materials needed to complete the project, and I even had leftover thread, sequins, and beads. It did take time to make this, but it was easily completed it in a few weeks while I watched evening television. The upper candy cane was easily personalized with her name - Bucilla provided an alphabet chart to follow - and it came out great. Everyone loved this, and I will definitely make another Bucilla project for any new grandchildren that may come!

These kits are great! They are so detailed with sequins and beads adding a little "bling". Some areas are also stuffed - you provide the fiberfil but it takes very little. The directions can be a little confusing. I tend to look at the photo to guide me. If the key in the directions was printed in color, it might be easier to differentiate between the symbols for the stitches. Once you get started on it though, it goes quickly and is enjoyable to stitch together!

Bucilla Christmas Stockings are always a hit. The stockings end up looking very professionally done because Bucilla apparently has some expert designers. Bucilla does a good job of preparing the kits with outstanding and easily followed instructions. There is almost always ample thread, sequins and beads. I have had to purchase additional embroidery thread to finish a project lately. Bucilla is not quite as generous with the supplies as they were in the past. But there is generally enough to complete the project.

I must say that the stocking turns out great and will last a very long time. It isn't that hard to make, it just takes forever. Buy these with plenty of time to spare, unless you have nothing else to do. There are a lot of small intricate pieces to add to make it look as good as it does. This is not something you can do for a nice quick project. With all that said, they are beautiful when done.

We have over 30 stockings for Christmas of this brand and no two are the same. I always have extras cause my babies keep having babies 🥰

This kit is *really* cute, but it takes a TON of time. There are about 125 pieces that have to be appliqued on. All the stripes on the candies are separate pieces! I would estimate that I spent 60 hours or so on it, and I'm pretty fast at it. Don't plan on completing it as a quicky project, but it's totally worth the effort when it's done. Mine looks just like the picture.
