Surprisingly good fit and finish!
I’m a bit of a ‘knife guy’. Over the years I’ve used slipjoints before but mainly stuck with lockbacks and eventually moved on to the modern edc stuff. However, recently I was looking through my collection and found my old Buck 110 and needless to say, I started to regain an interest in traditional knives again. I’ve always preferred buying American made products, still do, but the deal hunter inside of me and also the fact that money is hard earned these days, I couldn’t help myself but to check out ‘cheaper’ alternatives. I also fear losing an expensive knife or having it get damaged in my pocket. With all that in mind, I bought an Old Timer Generational knife which is made in America and really was impressed by that so I started looking at foreign made Old Timers and Uncle Henry’s (both are made by Shrade which is really Taylor Brands). Also started looking at foreign made Buck slipjoints. Out of the couple of very inexpensive knives I bought, I was least excited for the UH. It was the cheapest and looked the cheapest of my selections. But lo and behold, it was super nice! ACTUAL REVIEW: The Uncle 11UH is an amazing bargain. The fit and finish is outstanding for the price. There are no gaps on the liners. The bolsters have no defects and line up with the Staglon. There seems to be no rough edges or anything. The walk and talk seems good out of the box. The tang of the main blade runs a little bit when closing, but for the price that is acceptable to me. The next generation Staglon does not really look like real Stag. I knew it probably wouldn’t going in, but I got it anyway because I really wanted a canoe slipjoint and Old Timer didn’t seem to have one available on Amazon. I actually really like the Staglon because it looks like the fake, faux stuff they had a lot of in the 60s and 70s. Also it won’t recess and leave gaps and unevenness. Oh and if you are upset that this doesn’t look like real stag, buy a knife with a real stag handle! I’m just being hard on ya. Consider another knife if that’s a problem but for the price I’ll take the Staglon. I can’t say for sure if I just got lucky and got a good one, I know with a lot of inexpensive foreign made items that is the case. But there is at least one good one they made that I can attest to. Statistically that probably means something. This review has gone on long enough, but I’ll just say, if you’ve read this far… hell if you are even looking at this knife, just buy it.

A good deal!
I bought this knife on a Black Friday deal for just $13.87! And for that price, it is an awesome value. Both blades are solid and will not fold under normal, safe use. The springs are quite robust. No horizontal or vertical play whatsoever. Fit and finish are decent, not Case or GEC quality. But this was a sub $15 knife for me, so my expectations were exceeded by this knife. Both blades came shaving sharp. No touch up needed. Only one small hairline gap between the springs. This is a well put together, sturdy knife. No complaints! This is a user knife for me, and I really don’t care that it was made in China or has stainless blades. I expect that this will make a good edc knife for me. I’ve been carrying it for a week now, and it has performed well. I’m a fan of the canoe pattern and own quite a few canoes made by Case, Queen, Buck, and Rough Rider. I prefer carbon steel, but stainless has its merits.

Not a buck
It’s OK but ordering a buck gave this to my grandson.

Ok I guess
Honestly kinda a let down. Overall just felt very cheap in the hand. Opening mechanism barely worked, and it was pretty dull. (Some 3 in 1 oil helped with the opening.

Why all the hate for these?
I have read a lot of critical reviews on this. I either hit the lottery or they are over hyped. I was looking for a slimmer knife in my pocket than my stockman. After going to the medium it seemed a bit hefty. This canoe is nice. Rivets are well fit. The fit and finish seem top shelf. The springs are nice and stout. It fits the hand nice. Not sure what the Stag is made of, but it seems adequate and time will tell with the wear. The bevel is even, and the blades are sharp. If you want a real Stag, pony up for a Case, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Since I tend to lose pocket knives, I'll hang with the Uncle Henry, I haven't been disappointed in the past.

Gracias Amazon.
