Hotdog it’s a Hit!
This item is exactly what was described and it has been a great addition to our collection of kitchen gadgets. The quality is excellent and works great. If you like hotdogs and you like the bun toasted, then this is a must have for you. I’m glad I got this one. My grandson is going to be so excited about this because he loves hotdogs.

Who knew how great this would be?
This thing is fantastic! Turns out the main reason people eat sandwiches more than hot dogs is because hot dogs are less convenient to make. At least, that's how it seems around here, since after getting this people are eating a lot more hot dogs. (No, don't worry, you can get hot dogs that are high quality, all natural, don't have preservatives, etc.) There is a bit of a trick to using it. Since buns tend to get warm first and may burn if you cook them as long as the dog, we set to the middle setting. Run the buns and the dog the first time. After it pops up, take the buns out and plate them, then run the dogs one more cycle. That way you don't burn the buns. They come out fantastic, some of the best cooked dogs we've had. One caveat—we always tend to buy dogs and pre-cooked brats that have a casing on them, not casing-free. We actually haven't tried with casing free, so not sure how it does for those. But all in all, we use this a lot more than we though we would. It's really pretty fantastic.

One minor problem...
Isn't it cool looking? And it does cook wieners very good, clever retro design. But, about one out of every 4-5 times you use it, it will burn the edges of the buns. No matter how carefully you insert them, this does happen. I still like it, but they need to fix that problem. Also, kind of a chore to clean.

A True White Elephant Gift
Not sure why my husband bought this. Would be great as a white elephant gift. It’s very attractive - just as pictured. But it’s not a hotdog cooker. Rather, it’s a toaster which identifies as a hotdog cooker… hence the reason it would make a great (albeit pricy) gag gift. The top has been modified with circles and half circles. The circles fit a standard hotdog (not the plumping ones). The half circles were too small to hold the regular (relatively small) buns. We had to jam the buns in (partially open). Besides the facelift on the top and the modified toasting slots, the rest is just a standard toaster: heating elements dividing the inside (buns are toasted on one side and hotdogs on two sides), with two drip trays (not just toast crumbs - the juices from the hotdogs end up on the heating elements and in the drip trays). Not practical for cleaning, and then the heating elements stink on further use. The buns were smashed, toasted and VERY dry. Nothing like a nicely steamed bun. The hotdogs were burnt on the two sides facing the heating elements, but still cold inside. Not very appetizing (yuck!). Again… this is great for a White Elephant gift exchange… or if you have to buy a gift for someone you don’t like and need it to look like a nice gift at first. ;-P

The Gift of Dogs
I got this for a friend’s husband. He was completely ecstatic! He was in love with the red color and how big it was after opening it. Within a week he was making more hotdogs and loving how easy to make and clean.

So easy ,fast and convenient.
Bought this for my hubby for Christmas who loves hotdogs. We both dislike like our hotdogs boiled. Only way to have it is grilled. But sometimes having to start the grill along with the cleanup and if weather permits is a major inconvenience and takes time. Having this hotdog and bun toaster is the closest to grilling perfection flavor you'll ever get minus the mess and wait. For the hotdogs we put it on the highest time setting (5 minutes) and do it twice for that crispy outer "grilled" layer. For the buns, we take it out after the first 5 minute round. So, in 10 minutes we have perfectly "grilled" hot dogs and toasted buns. The clean up is a breeze. Just slide the two drip pans out from the bottom and the two hotdog cages from the top. I hand wash them with dawn soap to remove the grease and it's done in 5 minutes. So easy, fast and convenient! We love ours and use it at least once a week.

Burns buns, doesn't cook hotdogs
I'm not quite sure how this appliance is rated so highly. It seems like $40 of the money I spent went toward design and the remaining $5 went to the actual functionality. In short, it doesn't work. This is probably the worst method for cooking hotdogs. As other customers have shown, the corners of the bun will blacken, and the hotdog itself will be undercooked on the top unless you flip them, and if we're being real... this is a machine dedicated for making hotdogs, no workarounds should be required! What's more, is that despite it being a dedicated hotdog making appliance, it's MASSIVE and it DOESN'T work with larger hotdogs. Quarter pound dogs? Nope, too thick to fit in the holder. Bun-length dogs? Nope, doesn't cook fully on both ends. The only positive thing I have to say about it is that it looks nice on the counter. It doesn't work though. I don't recommend anyone buy this.
