These blocks are a daily go to from my 2 year old. They stack nicely for storage too.

Our first set was destroyed by my crazy toddler, so I purchased the melissa and doug blocks thinking that’s what i had prior. Once received, I realized they were not the same. the M&D blocks were poorly made and the decals were peeling off and crooked when i received them new. These blocks are better made and more attention to detail, although have not held up long and I have had to tape almost every one of them due to rough play. Other than that, my 2 year old loves building these and knocking them over.

The illustrations are really bright and nice but my 18 month old gets frustrated with these. Because they essentially made of thick cardboard they warp, so they don't sit flush/flat on top of each other. Unlike other typical plastic stacking cups that have a lip on the bottom to hold the next one in place, these tend to slide. The cubes are so close in size there isn't much room to work with, and so if they aren't perfectly placed on top, they don't stay put. Lastly, when my 18 mo old gets frustrated she throws them or knocks it over, and the corners of the boxes are very sharp, I've gotten caught by them a couple times and it doesn't feel good.

Three year olds love to do things repeatedly, such as building things up and shattering them. My grand daughter and I played with this toy for over a half an hour. She loved not only building and razing her structures, but identifying letters and animals and even learning about animals she’d never heard of. My kids played with this kind of toy 37 years ago, and I expect the enthusiasm for it will continue in generations to come.

These are made really well and are so fun when teaching ABCs and animals. Fun to count and stack. They all fit together for storage. My 2.5 year old loves them!
