Uncovered: Women in Word and Image Hardcover – June 15, 2009

Apparently in New York a woman can legally be topless, not that the news will tell you that.Anyway, it's been some time since I've looked at my copy, Mr. Matter apparently took advantage of this ruling and found female volunteers to pose in a variety of mostly public places. Most photos are color, some black&white and most if not all come with testimonials by the models. You'll find at least two races, at least one mother-daughter pose and an age range from pre teen (1 of those) to grandmother age (several of that), and a few who posed more than once. The poses look rarely, if ever, "posed" - most have a very natural quality to them. I found most of the testimonials good too, one woman wrote about finding skin cancer in time because she posed. 2 or 3 didn't give a …… what people thought (that's the not so great part).I think Jordan Matter sells some copies of some images, and you'll certainly find some good enough to own.

I own two other Jordan Matter books and two calendars. I have loved all of his dance-related work. This book is more a political statement than Vitruvian beauty. The beautiful cover is misleading in that regard. Kudos to those who posed, for trying to break boundaries, and for the concept, but it was not what I was expecting.

I really enjoy this as a photo journal representing a freedom women should have or take more advantage of. I was a little disappointed in the lack of verbiage. I was hoping for some more depth of insight from the models, onlookers and photographer. I hope we see more of this from Jordan.

I had been Following Jordan Matter and the topfree movement long before this book came out. I had a good idea what the content would be but I was really impressed with the details that had been put to the pages. It really is something you can see that he put his heart into. Outstanding job!!!!!

This review is not for the content, but for the form the book arrived. I ordered the book new, but when arrived, the outer cover is seriously damaged, with parts of it already worn out and torn. I tried to leave a negative feedback but I see no link for a feedback on the delivery condition.

While the concept was great........ I did not find the photography at the artistic level expected. I was disappointed.
