as per another review which he said pretty much what i was going to say. there is nowhere on this website, packaging or on the filter itself that say NSF compliant to the 42 or 53 standards. it has to be tested to be compliant. it says NSF materials. so what exactly does that mean, a better plastic. the GE filter states that on the filter. the GE also has a California Board of Health disclaimer because we all know the people in LALA LAND are a lot more fussy so legally speaking this filter may not even be allowed to be sold in LALA LAND and legally speaking i think it would be required to state the compliant on the filter itself which it doesn't. i also noticed a considerable weight difference, given the fat the old filter was saturated with water, it still seemed like quite a difference. all we have is a phantom voice on the ANSWERED QUESTIONS list saying it is compliant and we all know they are trying to sell filters. also the English on the response to the question sounds like broken Chinese english. amazon should investigate this product before backing it with their name before the possibility of someone getting ill from a product they think is protecting their customers families. shame on amazon.

It works great in our GE! No bad taste but remember your suppose flush it for about 8 cups of water and also the ice should be thrown out. I save my ice before installing so I know when the container is full, toss. It's been over a year since installing, and all is well. I don't use the refrigerator's recommendation to change every 6 months. I think that's a rip off!

This item did not lock into refrigerator as needed to function . Ended up buying the GE filter .

There is no doubt in my mind that this was a refurbished/recycled cartridge. This thing came in a box and wrapped in plastic and still managed to be dirty. The label appeared to be in an old, wrinkled state so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if someone told me this was recycled.

Happy to have found a cost effective replacement to the GE Filter I have used for the last 9 years. Suddenly this year the GE OEM filter increased in price significantly. No reason provided and okay, lost my business.

Great value for your money ( much cheaper than ordering from GE ). In 6 months I would reorder another one.

When I first installed everything was fine after a couple of days it started dripping water note huge amounts. I checked in the box to see if they supplied rings but they didn’t I think that would have been better to sell up the new filter.

Amazing, very easy to change and worth the money. Will definitely buy again.
