It has also been traditionally recognized that honey from some plants in some areas are more effective than other honeys. Most honeys have antibacterial activity due to the enzyme, glucose oxidase, which gives rise to hydrogen peroxide, a proven antiseptic with antibacterial properties. The honey from some strains of the New Zealand Manuka bush (Leptospermum Scoparium) has an antibacterial activity not present in any other honey. This activity is known as UMF®. This guarantee applies only to honey from a New Zealand company licensed to use the name UMF® so long as the honey is packed and labelled in New Zealand. Equine Magic has been specifically designed for use on Horses. We have used UMF 15+ Manuka Honey as the key ingredient with natural oils and this unique combination will aid in the treatment of a variety of minor skin conditions including abrasions, irritation and dry, flaky or cracked skin, boils, abscesses, hotspots, rashes, eczema and other topical skin conditions. It is also effective post-surgery. Apply twice a day to the affected area morning and night. For open wounds apply more often keeping an eye on the wound to make sure it is well covered by the cream.
