Ease-of-use, long-lasting, Smells good
PROS: Smells good, easy to apply, lasts a long time CONS: If you don't close the lid all the way, it makes a huge mess if it tips over I purchased this back in March of 2015, and this is now December 2015. I have a large butcher block set, ranging from herbs to pizza boards, and because I cook at home everyday, I use them a lot, and I needed a reliable product that I could use often without having to let it sit for 2 or more days to soak in before using the board again. This is really easy to use, I have both poured it on my rag and wiped it onto the boards, and poured it directly onto the board and then wiped it in with either a paper towel or rag. In my opinion, pouring it directly onto the board and then wiping it in was easy and a little bit better, not because the wood soaked it in differently, but because the rag soaked it in when I poured it directly on that. My boards haven't cracked, and are still easy to use. In fact, those little scratches that the boards get aren't as noticeable. I will order this again when I run out, but that doesn't seem to be for a while. I still have half a bottle. Overall, my experience with the oil has been nothing but positive. But if they ever want to make a tip proof bottle, I will be the first one to order them. If you have any questions about the product or my experiences, please feel free to leave a comment on this review and I'll get back to you.

A little dab will do you
I bought this oil to season my new dough board that doubles as a cutting board. This butcher block oil does a good job, and it lasts so I don't have to reapply often. My board looks really good. This little bottle will last me a year or more. It's easy to apply, and it doesn't take much oil.

Quality Stuff
This is unscented and does what it's supposed to do. Rejuvenates and protects cutting blocks, knife handles and wood spoons with ease. Grab a rag and wipe 'em down. Takes a few minutes with this stuff and all your wood kitchen accessories look better than new.

Saved a badly damaged wooden spoon.
A friend gave me a lovely (and expensive) hand carved wooden spoon that was nearly ruined when she washed it in her dishwasher. So I applied this mineral oil to my spoon with a paper towel and it looks like new! I thought I applied it sparingly, but it took about 2 days for it to feel completely absorbed. May use a soft cloth the next time? Loved the convenience of ordering it...it would have taken me days to find a store that carries it. Can't comment on the price as I have not idea what it should cost, but it restored a very expensive utensil to like-new condition, so worth every penny to me.

I'm not sure it's better than pure mineral oil
I'm not sure it's better than pure mineral oil, but it certainly works, and I'm not sorry I got it...

Happy
Quality oil, and so far neither surface where I have used this has had any damage, and I would assume that is due in part to this product. Nicely scented, and soaks in fast, not greasy. My 5 year old oils both our blocks, and I like that it does not make a mess.

Keep your cutting boards in top shape.

It works the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it didn't come with a pour cap. The previous time I purchased this product it came with a lid that had a little pour spout you could open so too much didn't come out at once.

As described. Works well.

The oil seems to do what it is supposed to do. It is a bit too light(very low viscosity) and the bottle itself does not pour properly.

If you have a wood cutting board, a butcher's block, a knife or utensil with a wood handle, a wood salad bowl-- heck, anything with wood that doesn't have a clear protective coating over it and comes in direct contact with food, you need an oil or conditioner to maintain it. How it's worked best for me (on a cutting board): - Every month or so, I'll hand wash my cutting board in the sink by running a small amount of room temperature water over the board, just enough to wet all sides and use a sponge or nylon brush to gently scrub in dish soap-- this will remove oil, bacteria and food product on the surfaces. -Then rinse it with, again, room temperature water and immediately pat it as dry as I can. As soon as it's patted dry, I apply about a tablespoon of the Ironwood mineral oil to the top of the board and start spreading it on all surfaces of the board with a paper towel (You can use a cloth, but we're dealing with a concentrated oil, so be careful washing it to avoid oil building up in the drain or washing machine-- You might thank me later). - I let that first application sit for an hour or until I'm free again to let it settle in with whatever left over moisture from the sink rinsing. Now I repeat the process of adding a tablespoon of Ironwood to the board, spreading it and if your board was very dried out previously, you'll likely see the oil disappears into the board fairly quickly. We're going to apply small amounts of oil and continue spreading everywhere until it stops getting absorbed within a minute. - Once the board is "loaded" with oil, wipe of any remaining excess and you're good to go! You've now hydrated your wood board and made it more resistant from absorbing bacteria into cracks, cuts and scratches. This is a food safe product, so you can immediately start using the board. Overall: - I've used this product and others like it on my kitchen wood products for years and as a kitchen knife collector/enthusiast, it's the safest type of oil to use those wood handles too. Great price from Ironwood currently at $19 CAD, as far as I can currently see, the best bang for buck on Amazon in food safe mineral oils. The only thing I can do without on this particular mix from Ironwood is the light citrus scent. It smells nice, but I'd prefer unscented. Hope this helped!
