Great for everyone!
This is a fantastic novel for people who have low or high self-esteem. I like the fact that the author breaks down the concept without using scientific terms. Though I am a psychology major with aspirations of going into clinical, many people cannot understand this jargon. It helps a person understand the material without confusing them and actually furthers their education on the matter. Another part I enjoyed was the beginning where the author discusses reactions of low self-esteem. Though I have higher self-esteem, it makes me see signs of people with lower self-esteem. I can now watch my actions to make sure I don’t hurt someone by accident.I sometimes do the self-criticism and self-sabotage. I get very anxious over tasks, especially ones that I put my heart and soul in. When I don’t do as well on these self-missions, I will beat myself over this. This book gave me reassurance; I need to stop this habit of mine. Instead, I can constructively criticize myself and learn from my mistakes. It is harder for me to let go of my past too; thanks to the tips from this, I will have an easier time. I recommend this book for everyone, because we can all learn from it.

Helpful exercises and invaluable information from a professional with experience in the field
I love this book because it does not pretend there is a one-size-fits-all solution with which to improve confidence and low self-esteem. It really opened my eyes and made me discover my own value, as well as some of the mistakes and barriers to improving my self-esteem. It turns out I was holding others in high esteem in an unhealthy way and having overly-high expectations for myself.Dr. Alison writes clearly in a way that I can understand, and although this book has given me a lot to think about, it was well worth the read. I am now armed with proven strategies, questions to ask myself, and helpful exercises. Some of the tips and exercises are even helpful for other issues, like self-care and dealing with emotions in healthy ways.I really love it when scholars put years of work and experience into eBooks that are easy to follow for those of us who did not go to university. This is the kind of book I wish I had in print so I could highlight, dog-ear, and write all kinds of notes to myself in it.

Excellent self help book. Highly Recommend
I was asked to read and write an honest review of this book and I have to say it‘s a pretty good read. If you‘ve read books from Tony Robins then you will like this one as well. Self esteem is a problem that everyone has whether it is high or low. No one I have met has never felt low self esteem, it‘s something we all experience at one point in our life or another. The trick is how do we get ourselves out of it, and more importantly, how can we recognize when we are falling in to this trap. From a personal note, I have struggled with this in past in addition to having PTSD. It has been hard to cope at times with survivors guilt or the things we had to do during the war, this can take a huge toll on a persons self esteem. Like Tony Robins books, I learned a lot from reading Dr. Alison‘s book. I love books like this because there are always nuggets of truth that can be found and applied to our lives. I hope you find this book as informative as I did and give it a try. If you want to improve yourself, you certainly couldn‘t go wrong with reading this book

A self help must have!
This is really great book that I think would be useful to just about anyone. It is intelligently written and full of wonderful and poignant advice. But the thing that I think makes it such a great self help book is how it helps the reader to understand their feelings based on their own life experiences. It also includes a number of “exercises” that are designed to help you think more deeply about your instincts and reactions in many different circumstances. Really, I can’t recommend this book highly enough! It will be relevant for decades to come and I know I’ll be dipping back into it as the years go by.

Clearly written in an easy it's speaking to me sort of way that I've found very helpful. Specific exercises and quotes that lend to that "ah ha" moment and suggestions to help change one's perspective and thinking to increase self esteem. One of the best self-help books on the subject that I've come across.

A Must-Read for Those Wanting to Fix Their Low Self-Esteem

She helps readers to learn how to practice good self-care, deal with one’s feelings, how to stop bad habits, figure out one’s needs and how to get them, as well as how to build one’s self-esteem and other great tips.The book has an easy to follow layout and the author keeps it simple and easy. She provides exercises that are relevant and helpful for illustrating her pints. She doesn’t try and give a cure-all for low self-esteem, but rather uses her expertise to motivate the reader to make specific baby steps to get them on the right-track to building their self-esteem and gives them advice for the future. Her breakdowns of steps are eye-catching and are great for the busy person reading the book. The author’s writing style is easy to read and I liked her inclusion of quotes to emphasize certain ideas. I tried some of the exercises the author provided and found they achieved the results I wanted and were great for boosting my self-confidence and self-esteem. This book is a must-read for anyone who is a little hard on themselves and needs to have more self-confidence.

This actually worked
I have been struggling with low mood / low self-esteem/ bad eating habits and self restrictive habits for several years but from reading this book, for a whole month now I have managed to put these things behind me ! Despite all the other work book and self help schemes which did not help at all this book has been the only one that really helped and its because of this that I am able to get on with my life after such a long period of inner battle.

Great book
Haven’t managed to read it all yet but the parts I have read have already made me implement positive improvements into my life.Simple ideas and instructions which are easy to work on and achieve

Got it for my friend and he loved it !!He said this book opened his eyes and let him realise a lot of things we was going through out his life!Highly recommended
