Several months ago, MuscleTech discontinued my favorite caffeine-infused BCAA workout supplement, and so I was forced to find an alternative - a dedicated caffeine supplement, given that none of my preferred BCAA supplements were offering caffeine anymore. This research project, it turns out, was a worthwhile distraction because I came to realize there's more to caffeine supplements than just caffeine. With some skepticism, I purchased a bottle of these Caffeine + L-Theanine capsules and began taking them with my BCAA supplement, as before, on my early morning runs - call 'em my thrice-weekly "cardio" days. For context, I'm 6' 3" and 190 lbs. and take just one capsule before my runs - without food, usually at 7 AM and about 30 minutes before I reach the trailhead. I run (or snowshoe) a modest 3-4 miles in the Sierras with my husky buddy, Kane. And there's a couple hill climbs thrown in to lend my runs a HIIT-style workout that lasts anywhere from 40 to 60 minutes. The first thing I realized is that these capsules produce no caffeine "buzz" at all, as you might expect from a soda or shot of espresso. In fact, for the first few weeks, I was a bit disappointed and wondered if they were doing anything at all. But then I forgot to take them before a couple runs and realized the subtle difference - a lack of enthusiasm, a feeling of lethargy, of hitting "the wall," where I might otherwise dig in and push myself a little harder. At first, this was little more than a hunch, but over time, it became predictable. "Oh, crap, I forgot my caffeine pill - this run's gonna suck." But then, things got even more interesting. Over several months, I came to realize that my cardio/run days were generally more productive. At work, my attitude and enthusiasm were improved and I was getting more done throughout the day and without ever feeling any sort of artificial high. Consequently, I now take these on non-cardio days where I maybe didn't get enough sleep or anticipate a busy agenda. I avoid taking them every day, out of principal, but it's safe to say I take 'em four times per week. Likewise, I haven't double-dosed and can't tell you the effects. Of course, this is 100% anecdotal and, no doubt, certain body types and workout regimes will produce entirely different results, but I hope my experience will be helpful in setting expectations. Needless to say, I'm a fan and will be reordering for the foreseeable future.

I used this during online college and swore by it. I took one pill nearly every day and It did help me focus and have minimal jitters. I did see myself start to rely on it and have to take more to get the same effect, and I'd feel terrible without one. Please, don't take it every day. Save it for the one or two days of the week where you have that one boring 8am class and really need to wake up. As long as you don't rely on it and exceed recommended dosage it is fine.

Total garbage. I bought and used 3 separate products with caffeine and Theanine... on more expensive and one product much cheaper. On the morning I used this product I felt by far the most foggy and tired. I'm actually worried about what they put in these. I would strongly suggest against buying this product.

This supplement works well! The caffeine and L-theanine are well-balanced. It provides energy and focus, but not the jitters.
