Can’t wait for Fumito Ueda’s next game
this is my absolute favorite game fumito ueda crafts a beautiful piece of art with every game he gets his hands on. i see a lot of criticism for this game, which i think stems from unrealistic expectations from people who game often. Sure, the mechanics may be difficult in some places, but i had HARDLY any issue so i was super shocked to see criticism online. the story that is told is absolutely amazing and the scenery is gorgeous. the reality shop you form with trico is shockingly realistic and made me long to hang out with my dog. the personality of an animal was captured so beautifully in this game. we need to step back and appreciate what makes a truly good game

Amazing game!
So unique and so fun to figure out how to get Trico to do what you need him to do. A bunch of fun for me and my partner to play and watch together.

Horrible controls ruin what could have been a great game
This could have been a great game. The story, world, and characters are all good. I enjoyed a lot of the game. However, the controls are horrible and cause unnecessary, endless frustration. It's such a shame that a game that should have been 5 stars is reduced to two. I should have known better because the previous game, Ico, also had horrible controls. Although, in the case of Ico, the controls weren't so horrible that I deleted the game rather than continue to subject myself to the aggravating frustration. I'll never buy another game from this developer.

Worst Controls of Any Game, Bad Camera System, etc.
Worst controls of any game I’ve ever played. The jump function is a two and even three step process at times. You’ll be constantly waiting on your companion, wondering if they’re going to actually listen to your commands or trigger the next sequence. It’s beautiful design is ruined by choppy frame rates and a terrible camera system.

Slightly Overrated
My feelings towards the Last Guardian is kinda mixed. On one hand is an absolutely gorgeous setting, with a deep and emotional storyline added with it. On the other, the gameplay is frustrating to the point where I feel it lets the game down. The game's main selling point and where it thrives at are the puzzles, the atmosphere and the connection between the boy and Trico. The story isn't told to you straight away, basically you will have to progress in the story in order for you to find out how you ended up there in the first place. However despite these good moments their were some bad moments which overshadowed my experience playing the game. The main negative was the controls, these were clunky and when I pressed a certain button for the boy to do, he would do it very slowly. The worst is when the boy was on Trico's back, he used to tug on Trico as if he wanted to stay on even though I tried to get off.Another negative I have about the game is that I felt Trico was a bit slow himself. We couldn't reach the next area until Trico got us there i.e. jumping to the next spot. Sometimes he would delay and wait a bit before he jumped, I think this could have been rectified to make the AI a little bit quicker with his movements. Also as explained by other people, their were texture pop ups that were quite visible throughout the game as well.Overall I enjoyed my Last of the Guardian experience, particularly the stunning scenary, the connection between the boy and Trico, the part where Trico is jumping from block to block while he's carrying the boy, the fun puzzles and the scary Armored Knights.I do think this game is slightly overrated due to the problems I mentioned above. However if you can be patient with the awkward controls and look at the bigger picture, you will find that the Last Guardian is a brilliant game.

Beautiful and frustrating
Going into this game I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Prior to playing the game all I had heard that it was a unique and good game so I went into it with quite a bit of optimism, unfortunately that optimism started to wear out the more I played the game.Ostensibly, this game is about a boy and a beast (which takes the form of a very large dog). To begin with the game doesn't really have a story and you are made to navigate ruins without much explanation. Stylistically this game looks great and certainly looks beautiful but unfortunately the gameplay steadily became frustrating. When trying to navigate ruins and puzzles the controls frequently got in the way even with onscreen prompts of what buttons to press. I often found myself in situations where I knew where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do, I was pressing the right buttons to achieve the desired action, but despite this the character would not cooperate and often I'd plummet to my death to try the same thing again. At first I thought I must be bad at the game but after playing the game for several hours I was pretty confident that the controls were an issue. Without the frustrating controls this would have been a much more enjoyable game. While I find the game unique in its approach and stylistically beautiful I found the overall experience somewhat frustrating, which is a shame as with more control refinement I think this would have been much more enjoyable experience.

A puzzle-solving, adventure and fantasy game.
The Last Guardian takes place in a fantasy world where the player takes control of a lost young boy, who encounters a giant, bird and dog shaped creature, and together they must make their way back to the boy's village. Along the way they have to face other hostile creatures and solve puzzles. This game has beautiful graphics and a rich narrative. However (In my opinion at least) the gameplay can be quite frustrating and completing the game requires considerable patience. Nevertheless it is well worth your time and will be an experience you will never forget.

Amazing game
A visually stunning game with beautifully natural looking graphics. Trico moves and behaves exactly like he should, a huge loyal dog like beast. Perfect mannerisms, perfect movements. The boy scuttles about, running, climbing, jumping, hanging on to Trico while the beast leaps, runs and even flies through the air. The story gradually reveals its self as Trico and the boy journey through the vast ruins, working together to overcome obstacles and barriers, solving puzzles, fighting off robot like suits of armour, fighting other beasts. There is always a way onward. Either Trico will take you, or you will lead Trico, just explore and look around. The narrator will provide hints when you are struggling. It is fairly easy to control the boy, but with Trico, you will need a little patience. He is obedient when the task is clear, but can be a little hesitant. Try moving him into a better position by calling him over first. If he refuses to cooperate then chances are your approach is wrong and you need to try something else.Bear all this in mind, and you will enjoy playing this game immensely.

Simply Magnificent
Wow. This game blew me away. The visuals are beautiful, the story simple yet enticing and the characters extremely likeable. You will fall in love with Trico, his A.I is incredible and he is just plain adorable. You rely on him throughout the game as much as he relies on you, and there are some truly heart-stopping moments- of which I have never played before in a game. The movement of the boy is realistic and unique, as are Trico's mannerisms. The game makes you think and is not an easy game by any means, with many puzzles to crack, so will test your patience in some circumstances, e.g. Sometimes Trico behaves too much like a cat-bird-dog and doesn't do what you want straight away- but to me, this doesn't take away from the magnificence of this game, and only makes Trico more realistic (he can be really stubborn! ). What is a game without a challenge anyhow? It also tested my fear of heights- there are some wobbly-leg moments! But again, if you don't connect emotionally with a character and their predicament in a game like this, then it's not well made enough. I was emotionally involved throughout the entire playthrough. To sum it up, this is the only game I have ever played which has had me broken down in tears by the end. The amount of love and effort that has been put into this game pours from it in abundance. It is a must have for any PS4 owner, and demands playing through more than once. It is simply magnificent.
