I'm a carpenter building cabinetry for new kitchens and closets. I purchased the Fuji Q5 sprayer to keep the finishing in house. This sprayer lives up to its hype. Within a week I could lay down a professional looking finish on shaker style doors, drawer fronts, and panels. The Q5 has a turbine speed control dial right on the front of the box which is nice. But the key to a great finish is the included viscosity cup. Learn how to thin your product to match the air cap set, dial in the turbine output, and you can't go wrong. The included 1.3mm air cap set worked flawlessly for me to lay down an acrylic polyurethane enamel. I was expecting the odd splotch of paint I experienced with other guns. You know, when the gun pukes a few big drips that ruin it, causing you to lose religion and sand it back down and start over. But it didn't happen with this T-70 gun. I only use water-based products because I prefer the easier clean-up, and shorter dry time. I don't have a professional spray booth with air filters and negative pressure. I'm doing this in a 2-car garage with a few tarps covering the floor and two walls. The reason I like water-based is if the paint dries within 5 minutes, there's way less chance for dust and contaminates to land in my fresh paint. The Q5 delivers excellent atomization so the material is dry to the touch within a few minutes. I highly recommend this Fuji Q5 system. Even a beginner like me can spray professional results the first week. Taking my finishing to the next level is now just a matter of operator experience. Fuji's done their part.

Simple operation, fairly quiet, quality finish, works great. Realize that there will always be a bit of overspray even when adjusted properly, cut in with brush about 6 inches down from a ceiling when spraying walls then go overtop with a paint roller right after for best results (no need to apply paint to roller if wall sprayed adequately). Utilize drop cloth, respirator, ear plugs, ventilation etc when working indoors without a proper spray booth removing fumes/providing fresh air make up . Choose water base products for health reasons and thin them down appropriately for best results. Have fun!

I've tried spraying in the past and always had mixed results in terms of the finish quality. This is night & day different. The finish quality coming out of this system is as good as any professional or factory paint job. I could easily match the custom cabinet finish when changing the color the cabinetmaker sprayed. Of course high quality paints are a must - Sherwin or Benjamin for sure. It was easy to setup and learning how to use it was a simple matter of reading the directions and watching a couple of YT videos - FujiSpray has several and of course there are tons of others who show how to use the system with different paints. Cleanup is pretty easy too. Some of my earlier tries with other spray systems it seemed to take as long to cleanup as it did to paint. Cleaning up an HVLP system is just cleaning the gun and the Fuji guns are pretty simple to clean. For even faster & simpler cleanup I went with 3M's PPS (2.0) system. Not only can you skip cleaning the cup (the PPS cup is resealable/reusable or can be disposed of) but you can cap the PPS liner and have the ability to do touch-ups anytime without having to mix or thin the paint. Just store the leftover lines upside down so the filter screen doesn't dry out. Also, the system's gun comes with a 1.3 spray tip which is a great all-purpose tip but getting a 1.8 would be good if you want to spray latex without needing to over-thin. This isn't a cheap system for someone who's used to looking at the airless sprayers at the big box stores but there's a world of difference between the finish quality and ease of use vs. those airless guns. It's a case of getting a professional tool to get professional results. There are even more expensive pro tools out there but this is a good sweet spot for value and quality.

I have been buying and using lower end sprayers for years and finally decided to splurge on the professional quality Q5. Almost immediately I achieved a professional finish on my first use. The quality of the machine and the gun is obvious. I can’t believe I waited this long. I’ve easily lost many times the price of this proper set up by struggling with lower end units.
