Tales of Magic Boxed Set

Loved these for 3 generations of readers

I remember reading these when I was a kid so I had to get them to read that my kids now. Half Magic was a favorite of mine as a kid it was my favorite book for years.

Comes in a nice, boxed set. These were my favorite book as a child back in the 1960's.

I discovered these books when I was nine, and that was half a century ago. They hold up well, I got this set for my grandchildren. A good combination of Eager's work. It would be nice if this set could have come in a more expensive hardcover edition but the fact they are still in print is a blessing. If you like gentle tales about siblings these are a treat. They make excellent bedtime stories for reading to little ones old enough to enjoy stories that will require several night's to complete.

I adored these as a kid and read them now to my 9-year-old, who loved them, too. I was surprised at how many dated references there are that needed explanation. I only remembered the kids in one of the books not liking Charley Chaplin, a reference I still recognized in my day, but there are a number of others. There are also many literary references that kids today may not get. I think these provide a good entry point for a young child's understanding of history. My son wants to read the rest of the Edward Eager books that weren't in this set, which, by the way, comes in a very flimsy box.

The sleeve to the box set is so small! I got this set for my kids, they were not able to get the books out; when I finally got them out, there is no way they're going back in without damaging the books I do not understand why this is like this but I would buy the books separately instead of in the box set.

I read & re-read these books several times as a child & find I still love them. Will try to by more by Eager as I can. After i read any new ones i will pass them along to my grandchildren just as i will this setThe books arrived right on time as a box set in excellent condition though the box is a wee bit worse for wear.

My teacher read Half Magic to me when I was ten. I read it to my children and am now sharing the books with my grandchildren. These books promote reading and introduce and teach good literature to children.

I loved the Edward Eager books as a child, and I think the stories stand the test of time. Great box set.

This was a present for a 10 year old and I expect him to enjoy it as my son absolutely loved these books 30 years ago. They are a mixture of adventure and magic, reminiscent of E.Nesbit. It is good to see them in a smart boxed set.

I have not read these...but my 9yr. old son has and he is enjoying them. Never an issue when I suggest he reads before bed.
