Gil Elvgren: The Complete Pin-Ups

The book is replete with the illustrations of Gil Elvgrin, and it is a joy to page through.

The book is great and just what i was looking for, however it arrived heavily torn and wrinkled in several places...

Eye candy supreme. Idealized objectification, totally PC for the day.Some of the original paintings sell for big bucks now, lots of collector interest (and probably speculation.) He is not a Rockwell, but the side-by-sides of working photographs and finished illustrations are very interesting. It would have been great to be a fly on the wall in his studio, to see his interaction with the models and his working technique. Good history in the book. He made a few models famous. Today he would make a super subject for a reality program - could make more in TV money than from the illustrations. "Gil at Work" would be amazing, wearing his tie while painting.
