Durable. External power source making it possible to run a HDMI to VGA adapter off of an output.
4 years 5 months later this unit is still working great. Unlike the plastic cased models we bought earlier this has stood up under long hours of use. Bought this for a friend who does Karaoke and DJ hosting. Using it to duplicate HDMI second display for lyrics for singers and audience to view. I especially like that it has the red light next to the ports showing there is signal present. That makes trouble shooting display issues much easier. Our system goes like this => Laptop in extended mode w/ lyrics on display2 > OREI splitter > 1HDMI display and 1HDMI to VGA adapter > VGA display.

Watched the super bowl on two TV's Simultaneously from one cable feed!
Worked exactly as advertised for me. I have an older but arguably "best picture of any TV" huge Plasma TV and a more efficient small LED TV that we view from different perspectives in the house. Being energy conscious, I only use the Plasma when I watch a movie or special event such as the super bowl. Being a techie and knowing EXACTLY how much current the Plasma unit draws, (I measured it with a wattmeter as I did for all appliances and devices in my house) I do not run the Plasma often. I decided to run another TV as the primary source for evening shows, news, and bizarre showings at 6:00 O'clock and late night. (You know, political news...) However, I only have one cable box with the channels I like to watch. This switch directs the signal to the TV that's on automatically. It also will display both signals simultaneously. The super bowl was my first genuine experience with this splitter, I was watching it from two locations and this splitter did the job, it showed on both sets in high resolution. (I have not tried 4K, don't have this yet.) However, there was a definite delay between the two audio signals. Not sure if this was due to the splitter, the two different types of TV, or the cable box, but it was easily alleviated by turning the small TV volume down. So one may ask, why not just split the RF signal to two TV's by using the built in digital tuning of the TV? A cable signal is a digitally transmitted signal on a carrier and splitting the RF signal reduces the signal strength to both TV's. This may manifest itself as a picture that "breaks up" or freezes periodically, a result of weak digital signals. This requires a more expensive RF amplifier to bring the signal back to the proper level. And, it means the cable channel numbers and the broadcast channel numbers are different, some don't work, and more shortcomings. Splitting the HDMI signal and amplifying it (such as this box does) is generally less prone to this type of interference AND the cable channels all play with the same channel numbers displayed on the cable box. For you more advanced electronics people that understand RF transmission, cheap amplifiers typically have way to much noise figure to do this efficiently and the higher the frequency, the more difficult the design would be, the more expensive they would be. You would also need two cable boxes. I gave this 5 stars because it is built well, looks to be well shielded (EMI stuff) and works.

HDMI Splitter works great
HDMI Splitter works great, however I had one fail on me after about a year. I did replace it with the same product because it works so well splitting the signal from my Comcast Cable box and connecting it to my TV and to my computer. One "nuisance" though. Sometimes something goes awry and the sound on my TV goes away. Unplugging the splitter from the TV and Computer and unplugging the power supply, plugging it back in restores the sound immediately. It doesn't happen very often, but it does occasionally. I would have given it a 5 star review if the first one hadn't failed after a year or so of use.

Gets the job done
Had an issue thought my splicer was broken for my video wall turned out to be the splitter I actually ordered 5 different splitters from different brands that turned out to all be DOA so I thought it was my splicer that was broken this one actually worked right out of the box looks like a quality product and helped me realize that my old splitter was broken

Solves DirecTV HDCP issues
After paying over $140/mo. for DirecTV service including NFL Sunday ticket, you can imagine how upsetting it was to receive the dreaded message "TV does not support this program's content protection" when flipping between games and when trying to play back recorded DVR content, usually from CBS. Everything has worked fine for years so why this newly onset error? After several calls to DirecTV support, who were generally as useless as usual, the last tech support agent revealed that the "Networks" had recently upgraded their HDCP protection to deter piracy. "Really?" I LAUGHED. "I assure you it is MUCH easier to pirate programming than pay for it legitimately." Anyone "in the know" understands this. However, I try to be an honest citizen and taxpayer so I wanted to get this working legit. The agent then suggested that I simply place an HDMI splitter in-line on the HDMI cable coming from the DVR. Being in the AV industry for over 15 years, I knew exactly what she was suggesting and it was like I heard harpists as the clouds opened and golden light shone from the heavens. Why didn't I think of this? So basically it works like this... the splitter maintains the HDCP handshake with the DirecTV DVR. Anything on the other side of the split is just a bare signal, no copy protection. So I placed this tiny box on the HDMI cable going out of the DVR and it works great. I have not had a single hiccup or HDCP content warning since. Also, all of my recorded content plays fine. Remember, it needs to be the first device on the output HDMI from the DirecTV DVR. This is a great solution if you are going HDMI to DVI, for example, or maybe using an Audio Video Receiver as your HDMI switcher, or simply do not want to change to component cables for your video as DirecTV would have you believe is an acceptable solution. This little box is tiny, durable, made of metal, and works great. There is no setup or other nonsense, just plug and play. Have not tried it for actually splitting, so can't vouch for that, but as far as fixing the flat-out broken world of BS copy protection that is forced down our throats like a foie gras goose on a daily basis, it works nicely.

I got this so I can use my monitor and projector without having to unplug and plug in as my laptop only has one hdmi socket. Works well i usually have just one on at a time. But it can do both at same time I not sure if it does both at same resolution or not. But it works for me with projector which is 1080p and monitor is 1440p.
