As a primary school librarian, I absolutely loved this book and would recommend to any 9+ year old readers who are looking for a fast-paced adventure without compromising on character and writing quality. Julia Green really brings being part of the community on a small Scottish island to vivid life, with it's mixture of awe-inspiring natural beauty and insular neightbours, teen drama and economic woes. The interlay between the two main characters, Jamie and Mara, is subtly handled as they warily circle each other, disovering their differences and exploring just how far they can push each other. Highly recommended.

I haven’t finished it yet but I love it already. I can’t wait to share it with my class.

Well written story for our times and for young adult readers

A lovely book. Wonderfully written and wonderfully endearing characters too, who set off on a thrilling adventure by the sea! What’s not to like?
