Make sure you sand the seeds as instructed.
These seeds must be abraded with sandpaper according to the instructions or they will not germinate. Many sprouted within two days and are growing fine, but the ones I was a little lazy with sanding on have not germinated. They are a little difficult to sand because they are small so it is likely that one might get tired of sanding. Make sure you sand them on both sides. I am in a hot climate, but I still used a sprouting tray with a cover to get them started. They like a lot of moisture and sun, don't let the soil go dry when you are sprouting them. In cooler climates, it is a must not to let them get too cool. These are tropical flowers, although they will grow elsewhere. I specifically bought these as a garden vegetable/fruit for tea and such, but they are a nice ornamentals attract a variety of pollinators. If you save the seeds, from the plants to grow more, you have to let them mature on the plant longer than you would if you were picking the pods for tea. For those who complained about them not germinating, it is likely that they were not sanded enough. They are a bit tricky to get started. Time will tell as they mature. Hibiscus like more potassium than other plants. They don't do very well with the "bloom boosters" that are high phosphorous. Too much nitrogen will reduce blooms, so get a fertilizer that is designed for hibiscus.

Most fertile seeds I’ve seen…in 24 hour period…for Hibiscus…
I love Hibiscus flowers. I would say I have a green thumb. I got these seeds on Memorial Day from Amazon. I placed 5 of them on a paper towel wetted with 7.5mL of water initially. After folding the paper towel over I added an additional 2.5 mL of water to paper towel and sealed up the sandwich size ziplock bag. I placed the sealed bag on top of my upright freezer and placed a small piece of cardboard over it to hold in the heat. This was about 6pm last night. I checked them at 6pm, 24 hours later and 4 of the 5 have already sprouted. I transferred the 4 sprouted seeds to some Sunshine #4 bedding mix and covered with a very thin layer of soil. These should pop up in the next day thru the soil…Love these seeds. I would definitely recommend again.Side note, I never use chlorinated tap water for sprouting. Dirty and to many things in it. Use distilled or RO water for initial sprout. 4 out of 5 sprouted seeds is really good for a 24 hour period.

They grew very well and the Calyxes were delicious
I was looking to grow something that could stand being neglected by me and these are it! Zone 8 I started them out in seed trays and then put them outside. I did not use fertilizer. They take a while to mature, but as soon as the days started getting shorter, they started producing fruit in September. I will be buying more seed.

Germination / growing
Seeds arrived quickly. The germination rate was 100%. They are now 3 feet tall, healthy and beautiful. The flowers aren’t here yet but I suspect they will be as beautiful as well. I’ll pop back in and share pics. Will purchase again.
