Can’t be beat for the price, so far.
Don’t want to pay the Joe Biden price for Simpson bases. So found these and thought I’d check them out. Heavier than I was expecting. Thought some tin object was coming but not at all.Figured the post lasted dang near 15 years sitting right on the cement facing South getting rain and all the elements. Raising it a 1/4-3/8” should last as long maybe longer. Or at least out live me or if I sell the home.As far as a railing some one might lean against? Not sure I’d do that. Base plate for a patio or other structure good to go.

Used for a 4x4 Porch Post
I used these for the top to mount a couple of 4x4s to the upper beam. They work great and seem very sturdy. The metal is nice and thick and the powder coating seems durable. I used #8 deck screws and the head was slightly bigger then the hole to secure it. I would suggest #9 screws to mount these plates but #8 works fine

Back to the future
Improves strength of rails, reduces construction time and has what I deem ‘utmost quality’. I will return to this review in the daytime and add some photo’s.

Not overly sturdy
Nice idea but the posts don't seem overly stable and I had trouble getting the screw gun lined up so I could screw straight down, the drill hits the post making you either go in on an angle or constantly stripping the screws which is what happened to me. Nice idea tho, maybe someone else can execute better than i.

Not safe.
I’m using this With a 36 inch wood post, it is not safe for 250 pound man land on it it would rip out of the word without a doubt.
