These are standard size puzzle piece. Typically about 1" x 1.5".

Q: How many pieces are in this puzzle? The title says 550 but the description says 1000.

Well I haven't counted the pieces lol but my box says 550 so I guess it's 550. I would go with what's on the box before the description.

Q: Why are all the people in this puzzle white?

Likely because the population of Vermont (the place where this puzzle is manufactured) is 94% white and 1.5% black or African American. Because there are so few people in this puzzle it stands to reason this would be an accurate depiction of a small town in Vermont. This would be a valid question if it depicted a large city scene. It would not occur to me to ask "Why are there no white people?" if looking at a puzzle of an Amazon rain forest culture.
