I have been using it for almost month. No smell and happy with the thickness provided. It's a bit bulking but it is fine for me as I am using it at home.

Here are the main points for this product and those considering a thicker mat.Product itself:1) As intended2) Yes, there is an out-of-factory smell. It comes out quickly and could be likened to the "new car" odor. Could be good or bad.1 inch mat:1) I usually use a 1/4 inch mat on a rubberized gym-style floor but wanted a mat to use outside (stone floor, by the pool) and desired something thicker for comfort. This reduced pressure points for many activities.2) It is harder to balance on a 1" mat due to the cushioning. For 1-legged-poses, this took some adjustment3) A 1" mat can retain sweat far more than a thinner mat (duh). So I use a Purrel spray afterwards and that works. But something to note.

I bought this mat to do PT exercises at home. I had previously used a 1/2 inch mat that was uncomfortable even over a rug. This mat provides cushiony comfortable support, stays in place, and I actually look forward to doing exercises every day.

I’m so glad I got this one for my home studio. It’s thick, comfortable, and complements the fjord blue reformer I have.

I really liked the comfort and thickness of this mat. Compared to my thinner more conventional yoga mat, the ends take a bit to unfurl. For this reason, storing it or transporting rolled up isn't a good option. Will keep my thinner one for on site classes, but will definitely use this at home.
