I can't believe how much I still love this movie. Saw it when it first came out then purchased it then lost the DVD then purchased on amazon again just now so I can watch it again for like the 20th time. The characters and story line are great. The acting is great. And the film overall was seriously intense. Mucho kudos to the writers and cast. Especially Cuba Gooding Jr! And I swear I would lose my mind if they came out with a part 2 (with Cuba Gooding still in it of course) LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. Truly one of my favorite films.

Good movie night get out the popcorn 🍿

Being a fan of Mirren and Gooding I would of course like this movie. It is not the best work for either of them, but it is still a very enjoyable film. It isn't strictly a drama or an action flick, sort of a cross between the two, with drama being slightly ahead. I am not good at synopsis, especially spoiler free synopsis, so I am not going to even try, plus there are reviews here that give an excellent synopsis of the movie. I am not sure of Mirren's age in this, I would guess near 60, possibly even older and yet she still projects an unbelievable amount of sex appeal. Even more so than the much younger and one would suppose much sexier Vanessa Ferlito. Gooding does an excellent job as the conflicted, emotionally stunted man who loves and depends on Mirren. The rest of the cast give excellent performances, and Joseph Gordon-Levett and Mo'nique are not only a hoot of a couple they also make you believe that they are passionately involved. I would recommend it to fans of the actors and to fans of crime and revenge movies.

Will be in my top 10 forever. Sexy, luring great movie and Macy Gray she's fantastic!

This movie showed exactly how diverse an actor Cuba Gooding, Jr. to be. Helen Mirren is an exceptionally gifted actress. These two actors sure put a different spin on assassins for hire and I love the web they weaved...This movie is for mature audiences. I don't remember the rating...but should be "R" for violence, nudity, language and mature content.

I stumbled onto this great movie one night, late, and surfing the cable channels...I bought it immediately and have probably watched it 5 times already...I'm one of those who, if I like a movie, and having seen an uncut version, I'm not satisfied with waiting for it to come around again on cable, with some good parts cut.So, the movie is violent in strange ways, and Stephen Dorff plays a way bad, really bad, as in horribly violent, man....and the end of the movie isn't a disappointment...

Une histoire fabuleuse que nous avions vu au cinéma , tout y est mêlé , violence , romantisme , intrigue , suspense , émotions , etc , dommage qu'il n'existe en Blue ray qu'en langue Ibérique et English ! En Français ce fut parfait , mais bon , tant pis !!! On fera avec , allez Messieurs les producteurs , faites un effort , il y a tant de ''NAVET'' en Blu ray , pourquoi un tel film n'existe pas dans cette version ?????

"The Shadowboxer" ist wirklich in jeder Hinsicht ein Independent Movie, wagemutig und voller Überraschungen - ein interessanter Genre-Mix. In seinem Filmdebüt zeigt der Afroamerikaner Lee Daniels, wie viele gesellschaftliche Tabus man innerhalb von 90 Minuten brechen kann: es sind nicht wenige.Um diesen Film am besten genießen zu können, ist es wichtig, möglichst wenig darüber zu wissen, daher schreibe ich nichts über den Inhalt des Filmes.Im Mittelpunkt der Handlung stehen die beiden Auftragskiller Rose (Helen Mirren) und Mikey (Cuba Gooding Jr.), beide Schauspieler sind Oscar-Preisträger, den HM für die Rolle der Queen" erhielt und CGJr für eine Nebenrolle in Jerry Maguire".Es gibt einige Actionszenen, in denen man vor allem Mikeys Kampfkünste bewundern kann, CGJr ist wirklich in Topform. Der Film besticht durch seine stilvollen, ästhetischen Bilder und der dazu passender Musik. Die Charaktere sind allesamt ungewöhnlich, sexy und lässig. Man spürt, dass sich die Schauspieler mit ihren Rollen intensiv auseinander setzen konnten - ein Vorteil, den eine Independent Produktion gegenüber der eines Studios hat (je mehr Finanziers, desto mehr Mitspracherecht in die Arbeit der Künstler).Folgende Personengruppe sollte diesen Film meiden: Leute, die knackigen, nackten, männlichen Hintern nichts abgewinnen können. Überhaupt glaube ich, dass homophobe Menschen mit diesem Werk gar nicht glücklich werden.Auf der Verleih-Version, die ich vorliegen hatte, sind außer dem Film noch 12 Minuten ,Making Of' und der Trailer zu dem Film zu finden.

Un film godibile, con una sempre superba Hellen Mirren, questa volta nel ruolo di una assassina di professione, che nonostante ladoverosa insensibilità insita nel lavoro scelto, riesce a mantenere una piccola dose di umanità. Umanità che non le permette di essere disposta a qualsiasi cosa per assolvere l'incarico ricevuto !!!
