Does this come with a case to hold the pegs?

This particular version was inspired by the original which does not come with a storage case but rather a baggie with a closure that can be opened & closed to store & keep your pegs. This new & improved Lite Brite is brighter, has more pegs (over 200) & templates (6) with redesigned pegs that are now glossier! The button is on the back and a stand has been added to sit the Lite Brite up on a table while working or lay it down for lap or floor working. It looks like you don't need to use a sheet of blank black paper if you just wanted to create your own design, is this true?

This is true. The entire thing is black and the holes are actually covered - it’s hard to describe. They only open when you put a peg in them. But yes, you could freehand any design you want with no black paper. Since I’m assuming you remember the old ones I’ll also say - It doesn’t plug into the wall, just battery powered which makes the light nowhere near as bright as it used to be. Parts of the design don’t light up well due to this.

This is the oldschool type where you push the peg throught the paper sheet into the lamp piece correct? 90's kid talking here :)

None of them are like the oldest of old school Lite Brite’s which I had. When Lite Brite first came out in 1967, the pegs were triangular in shape, not round. Of course the screen you put the pegs in also had triangular shaped holes for the pegs. The round peg didn’t come out until later in the 1970’s, but they’ve been around so much longer than the triangular shaped pegs, most people only remember the round shape. You punched the peg through the pattern placed under the screen. Lite Brite was always one of my favorite toys. It provided countless hours of fun!

Great gift for my nephew

My nephew broke his leg so he’s been very bored and can’t run around or anything and he’s stuck in this wheelchair so he loves the light bright and loves puzzles so this was a great toy for him. Something I did as a child and I’m glad he’s enjoying it as well. It seems durable and easy to use and he can take it anywhere with him. Good quality as well.

This is a classic

This activity continues to be engaging for a not too young child. My grandson loves spending time making the pictures and is so happy when he’s completed one. Doesn’t mind doing the same ones over. The only drawback is the size and amount of pins. Take care and start with a container for the pieces. Not safe for little little ones, dogs, etc. otherwise a great time spender!

Not cheaply made

Total throw back and exactly how I remember it. I got it for my 4yr old. I think she is a bit too young for it. It was hard grabbing the pieces off of the board and hurts your fingers. Better suited for my 8yr old

Nostalgic

This is a simple, fun toy that encourages creativity and keeps kids busy. My kids really enjoy it. It’s easy to use and has that classic look many adults remember from our childhood. The pegs are small and can be a little tricky to handle, but overall it works well and is enjoyable to use.

9 year old LOVES...LOVES this Lite-Brite!!

My 9 year old insisted that I wrote a 5 star review with SPECIFICS on this Lite-brite: -It is so much fun to create with -The colors are bright and fun and pretty -There is a built-in stand so you can display your creation -It has a battery-saver feature that allows you to display or use as nite lite and it will turn off automatically -The templates are fun and easy to use AND also fun and easy to make YOUR OWN creations. My 9 year old played with this every day since Christmas and she LOVED making a New Year's Day display on our "Food Island"! I was SO impressed with this Lite-brite!

Still a Classic

Our 2 Granddaughters love this and I enjoyed introducing them to an oldie but a goodie! One complaint. It's very hard to see the light through the pegs when the board is standing up. The girls kept placing it flat on the table to be able to really see the light coming through as the picture was formed.

Super fun and pretty to look at

This looks so fun and I played with it as a kid I bought it for the toy drive at Christmas time so I hope the kid who received it loves it as much as I did as a kid
