Helpful but would be nicer with longer threading
If trying to keep the surround in contact with the hose for stability and maintaining a straight path for the orifice tube, you too may run out of threads (in the case of a shallow set tube). So, while the grabbing action helped, the outer nut was not able to help with stability in my case. Would be nicer if the entire extractor shaft were threaded. I may make that happen myself at some point...

There are several types to choose from. This one is inexpensive and worked like a charm.
I have a few 1970's GM cars that I want to get the A/C system operational. Needed this to properly flush the evaporator. Took a couple attempts as I have never removed an orifice tube, but got it hooked on and slowly pulled it out. Just takes a bit of finesse to know when it is properly hooked onto the orifice tube. Now that I have done it once, subsequent ones should be a piece of cake.
