YUGUO FARMS premium dried shiitake mushrooms are a convenient and affordable luxury. Sliced for quick and easy preparation. Simply steep for 20 minutes in hot water to rehydrate and then ready for cooking. Deep, complex savory flavor with a meaty texture. Proceeds from every purchase go towards local farmers and their communities. Building schools, healthcare facilities and scholarship programs. An excellent source of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Vitamins: D2, b2, b3, b5, b6, niacin, choline and folate. Minerals: Selenium, copper, zinc and manganese. Amino acids: Lysine and leucine, loaded with phytonutrients and fiber. A few notes about the product, we do not use any sulfite during the drying process, nor any other preservatives, as many other companies do. We try our best to remove any stems when we harvest and bag the product, but it is common to have a few stems and some smaller “broken” pieces.

Still figuring out the soaking vs. cooking methods, but that is more on me than the mushrooms. Have used these in a few dishes with no complaints and generally no left-overs.

Looks legit.
Didn't open as it's for long-term,

Did not like
These never get soft even after having them in boiling water as it says. I even tried longer. Maybe it's just the way dehydrated is, however like rubber, I don't think so.

My Favorite Shitake
Undoubtedly the best value and best Shitake mushroom package I have seen on Amazon. The 14 oz bag is big and the sliced mushrooms are plentiful. I mainly use these for soups. For instance, you can add these to an inexpensive package of ramen-type noodles (I prefer Nongshim), maybe include an egg, preferred vegetable(s), and anything else you may want and you have a semi-gourmet meal for low cost. They really do not take long to soak and render, and the boiling process really softens them up nicely. Highly recommended. I hope they stay around on Amazon for a long time, because I will certainly be buying more in the future.

Reconstituted product not near fresh
I am not real crazy about the final product. I don't typically use dried and probably won't again but this is a BIG bag.

When You Can't Get Fresh........
Thinly sliced, large pieces (and the small amount of crumbs at the bottom of the bag are great for simmering in broth). No noticeable artificial or chemical smell which regrettably shows up in some dried mushroom products. Instead these reconstitute quickly into tasty slices with a chewy texture that may not quite be the same as fresh, but is still a good part of the meal. Especially impressed that they are uniformly sliced, making for really quick cooking.

Disappointing: Large in size, lacking in flavor.
I have been using delicious dried shitakes for a while now and love the flavor. This brand is not my favorite and doesn't have the distinctive shitake flavor I am accustomed to. I honestly question they are actually shitake. I wish I could say they were great, but sadly they are only fair.
