I love this cookbook. It really helps me and I have used several of the recipes. It is hard to find traditional and authentic Chinese recipes, so I very much appreciate this recipe book. I also love that the techniques used are described and explained. I love the effort that was put into making this book. Thank you!

Beautiful photos, colorful stories and amazing recipes! This book well researched and written with true love of Chinese culture. I like the helpful section on ingredients, equipment and family table etiquette.

This is a very fine book and I highly recommend it. I am a seasoned cook but not in Chinese cooking and this has a background for the recipes, where you can get the ingredients as well as well described recipes for novice or pro.

We had a Chinese student live with us for a school year, and when I served up a dish from this book, she smiled and said I got "100 points" for making it. We've also cooked a couple of the recipes and shared them with others, and they have been great hits!

This book brought me on a journey through China! I grew up eating your typical take-out Chinese food and definitely intimidated by any authentic cuisine I've seen. Shanti inspired me in the kitchen through the photos, stories and recipes...love it! Thanks :-)

Really good, authentic and informative.

More complicated than I expected. Very good if you are deep into Chinese cuisine.

This cookbook is indeed authentic insofar as it calls for ingredients not normally stocked in our kitchen but available at the one asian specialty store in our small (90,000) Canadian city. It mixes classic recipes with unfamiliar ones and raises the bar for those who might wish to venture into new areas of this fascinating cuisine. It is well written with personal touches and stories.
