I upgraded to this from my old A7III because I needed something that could handle both high-res product shots for work and decent video for my own projects, and this thing is a beast. The autofocus is genuinely sticky—I can wave a product in front of the lens or turn my back to the camera, and it instantly locks back onto my eye the second I turn around. It’s miles ahead of the older models where you’d have to pray it stayed in focus during movement. The video quality is stunning, especially the 10-bit color which lets me actually grade my footage without it falling apart. I was worried about the overheating issues people talk about, but I’ve run it for 45-minute interviews in 4K without a single warning, though I do keep the screen flipped out just in case. The "Active" stabilization mode is a lifesaver for handheld shots; it adds a tiny crop, but it smooths out those micro-jitters so well I've stopped bringing my gimbal for quick run-and-gun shoots. That said, the 1.5x crop when you shoot 4K 60p is the only real annoyance. It basically turns your 24mm wide lens into a 35mm, so you have to plan your lenses accordingly if you want slow motion. But honestly, for a camera that does photo and video this well in one body, it's a trade-off I'm willing to make. If you're on the fence between this and the SIII, get this if you need the megapixels for photos; you won't regret it.

After moving to the Sony FX3 for video, I decided to switch to Sony for photography, and well, wow! This is a fantastic camera, I’m using it currently with the standard f1.8 38mm lens and the f1.4 85mm g-master lens and I’m blown away, even with the “standard lens”, but stick a g master lens and it goes up another 10 notches in image quality. It’s not cheap, but it is very good. The eye tracking is decent and can make it easier to get in focus shots, especially if the subject is moving, I’ve used it with human and dog subjects and it really has performed well. You don’t get much in the box, the charger, a strap and a battery, I opted for body only since I had lenses for the FX3 and wasn’t interested in the kit lens since I mostly use prime lenses. It’s not light by any stretch, but it feels sturdy with a metal housing and exudes quality. It can take a full size SD card (just make site it’s fast enough) and also cfexpress type a cards, so there’s options there as well.

Good upgrade, used for photography and videography and with the likes of a cage and some extra accessories this is brilliant value for money compared to something like FX3

Works well. Good size and comfortable to use. Focuses well and has facial tracking. ISO good, noise doesn't creep in until around the 5000 mark but noise reduction can easily fix that. Good value for money.

Shutter failed after 66000, rated for 200k plus. Despite being within warranty, Sony say fault was caused by 'physical damage' At the time of failure, camera had taken 600 images that evening, and the fault can be seen happening on the RAW files - the timestamps between ok and faulty show a half second difference, yet Sony are saying this is not a part failure but 'damage' Nice camera when it worked, but now arguing with Sony as they want £280 to fix a fault which should be repaired under warranty.

Good value for money and packed with features and has a really good autofocus and selection of lenses, the flip out screen comes in very useful too

I think for a full appreciation of this (and other) cameras it is better to refer to photographic sites. I am very happy with my purchase, but please do full research to ensure this camera (or any camera) matches with your needs and type of photography.

J'utilise le Sony Alpha 7 IV depuis presque un an, et il a largement surpassé mes attentes, tant en photographie qu'en vidéo. Au début, j'ai rencontré un léger problème de chauffe, mais après avoir ajusté un paramètre, le souci a été résolu de manière efficace. La qualité d'image est tout simplement remarquable, avec des détails nets et des couleurs éclatantes. En mode vidéo, la fluidité des séquences et la richesse des détails capturés sont impressionnantes. Le capteur performant associé à une gamme d'objectifs compatibles offre une polyvalence exceptionnelle pour diverses situations de prise de vue. La prise en main est intuitive, et la construction solide du boîtier inspire confiance. Les commandes sont bien disposées, facilitant l'ajustement rapide des paramètres, et l'écran tactile est un atout précieux. Après avoir résolu le problème de chauffe, la performance générale de l'appareil s'est révélée fiable et constante. Que ce soit pour des clichés en basse lumière, des portraits détaillés ou des vidéos professionnelles, le Sony Alpha 7 IV excelle dans tous les domaines. En conclusion, malgré le petit hic initial, le Sony Alpha 7 IV se positionne comme un choix exceptionnel pour les passionnés de photographie et de vidéographie. Ich habe mir die Kamera als Upgrade für meine in die Jahre gekommene A7 II gekauft. Da sich meine Bedürfnisse immer mehr in Richtung Telefotografie verschoben haben, und ich mir kürzlich schon das Sony 200600G gekauft habe, spielt die A7IV hier Ihre vollen Stärken aus! Der Vogelaugen Autofokus ist eine wahre Freude! 😊 Menschen und Tiere können natürlich auch mit dem Augenfokus scharfgestellt werden. Zur Bildqualität kann ich nur sagen, WOW ! 33Megapixel ist ein kleines Plus zu den 24 vorher, allerdings ist das nicht die Welt. Die Reserven die in den RAW Dateien stecken, machen allerdings einen erheblichen Unterschied! Wenn ich hier die Tiefen aufhelle, fängt da erstmal nichts an zu rauschen. Hier kommt es natürlich auf den ISO Wert drauf an, aber bei meinen Bildern bisher ( bis max. ISO 5000 ) war dort ein leichtes Rauschen vernehmbar, welches sich allerdings ohne großen Qualitätsverlust in Lightroom beheben lies. Die neue teure Kamera braucht natürlich auch das nächste teure Equipment das fängt bei Speicherkarten an. Man kann problemlos eine alte SD Karte einlegen, die man noch rumliegen hat. Will man allerdings so wie ich Serienbilder mit voller Geschwindigkeit fotografieren, muss es schon eine UHS-II Karte sein. Diese dann aber unbedingt mit V90 Zertifizierung. (Habe mir hier von Amazon die Kingston bestellt, Preis/Leistung eine 1+ mit Sternchen!) Sollen zusätzlich auch mal 4K Aufnahmen entstehen, ist das dank V90 kein Problem - ausser es sollen 4K 60fps Aufnahmen sein. Dann kommt man leider um die CF Express Typ A Karten nicht umher. Die sind furchtbar teuer, bieten aber extreme Geschwindigkeiten. (Achtung! Da braucht man auch wieder einen neuen Kartenleser) . Die Akkus sind deutlich teurer (FZ-100) als die der A7II . Sie haben zwar eine gesteigerte Kapazität, allerdings merke ich nicht das die Kamera länger durchhält als eine A7II . Dies ist wohl der ganzen Zusatztechnik geschuldet, die natürlich Stromhungrig ist. Die Menüstruktur ist echt ungewohnt, wenn man das der A7II gewohnt ist. man gewöhnt sich allerdings sehr schnell daran und wenn man erstmal seine Custom-Keys belegt hat, wie man es vorher hatte, dann ist die Bedienung wie immer! Das Auslösegeräusch ist deutlich leiser, klingt irgendwie dumpfer und robuster. Das gefällt mir sehr gut! Der Lautlosmodus ist sehr nice-to-have , aber man muss halt auf den rolling-shutter Effekt acht geben (bei Stillleben kein Problem, bei bewegten Motiven kann es problematisch werden!) Hier hat Sony ein Meisterwerk der gehobenen Mittelklasse abgeliefert, wobei ich von dieser Kamera so überzeugt bin, das Sie definitiv mein Begleiter für die nächsten Jahre bleibt. Versand war natürlich Amazon-typisch. Heute bestellt, morgen da! Funktioniert wie immer super. Verpackung war ok. Immerhin in einem Karton, aber die Polsterung lies zu Wünschen übrig. Jeder der sich diese Kamera kaufen möchte, tut es! Sie ist der absolute Wahnsinn und macht in allen Situationen einfach nur Freude, wenn man die Bilder hinterher am Computer ansieht, will das Grinsen garnicht mehr enden! 😊
