The surface is smooth enough to the point where a 50 HRC 1095 knife is exactly the same after 20 passes a side. If you really want the stone, buy a glass pane. Cheaper, bigger, and not 200 dollars.

The stone is great, especially on PM steels, like Hap40, ZDP189, SRS15. Frankly, you don't need it for SG2 or other similar steels. The scratch pattern is a little bit more aggressive than chosera 3000, but you can remove it with a 5000 or higher grit stone. Be aware of the price: I've put it in the basket for 146 Eur, in half of day jumped at 164. I've bought it at 164. Now it is 149. So, minus ~15 Eur for me.
