A gripping adventure full of danger and magic
This my first read by B.T.Narro and I totally enjoyed it. The story is full of adventures, new magic, new for me anyway, characters you can fail in love with, admire for their strength and determination, untold dangers which had me in knots with physical bodily tension ,, gritting my teeth at times filled me with fear and apprehension. It's extremely well written and flows from event to event without ever being interrupted by errors overlooked by editing. That I am especially grateful for as today it seems almost impossible to pick up a cyber book without frustrating mistakes from beginning to end, even by otherwise accomplished authors. I don't know if writers are not aware just how much these mistakes, overlooked by the writer, the proofreaders and by editors and publishers, are truly hurting the flow of an otherwise excellent story and how this hurts their reputation, relationship with the readers and in the end their pocketbooks. This book is just perfect in every way, the storyline, the tension how it rises and falls, the excitement for the reader who enjoys adventures into the impossible yet is still able to imagine the environment in which the story unfolds. There are moments where the story telling is so on point that I actually ducked my head to avoid an attack from above. Truly remarkable world and character building, I have not read any of Narro' s other books but had no problems entering and following into his world and magic. Of course I be reading all his books now, I hunger for more adventure. If you like reading stories that make you fly by the seat of your pants riding along with the characters of the story then this is your book. Be prepared to feel every emotion between frustration and loving a character, fussing and even cursing another, ducking from overhead danger, feeling hunger and thirst to the extreme, running from danger until you drop and run some more....well then pick up this story and be prepared for a gambit of feelings, rushing at times, through you and falling in love with your choice of characters.

Fun Yet...
I enjoyed the book. No cursing and a fun storyline. It falters occasionally as it bogs down in some of the writing. The author continues to build on the main character, Desil, yet does so haltingly.I like the abilities of the main character yet the inability of the character to determine uses of the abilities seems implausible. He is a thinker yet does not know how to better use the gifts given.Good read and looking forward to book 2.

Highly Recommended Epic Adventure.
I was right there with Desil through some of the most unique action scenes I've read, especially in the second half of the book. His limited ability to manipulate land and water lead to intense yet believable scenes of struggle that kept me reading into the night. The side characters are worth mentioning as well because they are interesting and complementary to one another, although almost every chapter is through Desil's point of view. They all struggle throughout this journey, sometimes in opposition of each other when their goals don't align. This made everything feel more real to me and much more relatable. All in all, it's a great tale of people pushing themselves to their limits to accomplish something great.I also want to add that the interior illustrations are very well done.

Not quite what I expected
I took a chance after reading some of the reviews, I guess the concept is not bad however not so sure about the writing. There were parts that were almost hard to get through and was easier to skip. Characters once introduced ie Wade, kept on being referred to as the main characters father assuming that the reader needed to know all over again.

Awaken
It was good and exciting but not the how should I say, the beginning was just a little hard to catch up on. If I would have know his history or shall I say his mother's or fathers history a little to get me caught up in who he was it would have been I think easier to read.

Great story
I find this story very interesting and unique. The mages are using a different kind of magic, controlling the elements energies. It has twisted plots and energetic adventures which brings more questions. I want to read more.

Okay. Not Great. Something missing, the rhythm action is off.
By the off I mean there are too many pauses between action scenes, the story lack flow. The magic has names but not enough description how it works.
