Q: Does it have a diffuser?

Diffuser? I'm not sure what that means exactly in relation to this product. However, the light produced is uniform across the surface; there are no bright/dim spots or pixiels visible. I use mine to digitize 35mm negatives and it is perfectly suited to this purpose (I detect no artifacts as a result of using it)

Q: Where do you put item to view? Is there a slot on the side of the light panel that you can insert it into?

Not sure what item you are trying to view... but there is no slot. Negatives and transparencies are placed on top.

Q: Can someone recommend an ac adapter for this product (for use in the u.s.)? or provide details on the external power connector?

I purchased the Elegoo AC 100v-240v converter adapter DC 9v 1a power supply for my Medalight. Works very well. Amazon sells many ac adapters, make sure you pay attention to the plug going into the Medalight.

Q: Where do you insert the negatives or slides?

You place the slides or negatives on the light surface. It’s like a small light table. I’m impressed by the brightness of the light.
