Not worth the money
The idea is a great one and I had high hopes. But the functionality of it just doesent work. The holes in the sifter are too big and smaller matter goes through. Also the size is made for a small kitten not a full size cat so they cant turn atound without knocking the lid off as the lid does not snap in place. Its also not deep enough so theres not enough volume for the amount of litter needed to keep the matter from collecting in the shifter portion. Not worth the money...

Great, but ignore the instructions
I responded to "MIM" that he/she wasn't using this correctly. But my annual refresh order just arrived, and it's not MIM who is wrong - the instructions are bad.If you keep the "screen" layer on top, you will have problems. And I did for a while at first - ten years ago. Then I figured out that you should let the clumps form in a regular tray. And when you clean, dump that tray into the filter tray. The "unused" clumping litter passes through the filter into the other regular tray. The rest can be dumped into the trash. And sometimes, the clump sticks to the regular tray. Just bump the tray, or use your scraper. If you rotate the trays this way, you can get a year out of a tray set before the surfaces start to corrode. But the process is so much better than the old way. This is still a 5 star, even though the instructions are less than helpful.Again - top tray is a normal tray. Middle tray is the screen/filter tray. Bottom tray is a normal tray. When you clean, pick up the top tray, and dump it into the filter tray (which is on top of the other normal tray). The clumps and solids will now be collected in the filter. Larger clumps will still be attached to the top solid tray. Shake or scrape that into the trash. Then pick up the filter tray and dump that in the trash. What you have left is (pretty) clean litter in the bottom normal tray.Put the filter tray on top of the normal tray that was the top tray, and put the litter-filled tray on top of that. If more litter is needed, pour some in.And once in a while, throw all of the litter away. And, once a year, go to Amazon.com and buy a new setup.

Huge mess.
Absolutely awful. The litter sticks to both the sifter and the pan below it making it absolutely impossible to clean without making a huge mess. The point was to avoid mess, not make it worse.

Shortens cleaning, but...
I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this box. I wanted one like this so badly, and I went for the cheapest one I could find. There are other versions of this box that appear to work much better, and I suggest looking into those!I bought two of these for our cats, and they were a bit hit lol. With four cats, I am always changing litter, and I thought this would be much easier for me.Pros:Saves litter, or more so makes it so that less litter is being thrown away each time.Shortens cleaning time by a bit--- lift, shake a little, throw away, then reassemble.Cons, or things I find annoying:The holes are just big enough that some things escape to the clean litter portion during sifting. Urine almost always makes it through to the bottom of the pan, so you end up having to scoop it anyway. This also causes old litter to be caked onto the back of the sifter, which may need a scooper to scrape off as well. The hood part, or guard that clips on top of the box doesn't clip down or fit correctly. Not a big deal, but again, annoying. All in all, it is a good box, and I would replace the rest of our boxes with them, but maybe a different brand.

Cracked the first time I sifted litter in it
This box is made of brittle plastic. Its bottom pan cracked the first time I was sifting the litter; i.e., from normal use. I do not recommend this.

So far so good.
Alright. So following the directions of another person who left a review.I LOVE THIS THING. I also bought the tidycats breeze box, that one is great for different reasons. But this one! This one has made my life so much easier in the short amount of time I've had it. I am gone rougly 8 hours a day and I have 4 cats and I cannot keep up with them with just a scoop. This is great! I used paper little which may be replaced with silca litter later. My only real issue with the box is, so far sometimes wet kitty little gets stuck between the greats and you have to poke it out.

BEST KITTY LITTER BOX SYSTEM OUT THERE
Tired of scooping? Tired of wearing rubber gloves and a face mask to scoop out kitty end-products from the litter box? Then this is the litter box system for you. There are two kitty litter trays, one sifter tray, and one litter guard. When the litter box needs to be changed, lift the sifter tray out so the unused/usable remaining litter sifts back into the tray. Kitty waste is isolated on the surface of sifter. Dump waste captured on top of the sifter into a trash bag and tie it closed. That's the end of that mess. Then place empty sifter tray inside the tray without litter litter in it. Pour unused/usable litter on top of the sifter in the empty tray to again to do its job. Then just stack the trays until the next trade-off. The tray guard actually does a pretty good job of keeping the litter where it belongs when the cat is in the litter box. Every one-two weeks, I hose out both trays and the sifter tray outside, but that's just me. I highly recommend this litter box system.

One Star
Too brittle. Pans split when dumping. Purchased two sets, both cracked. This is a "crack pot" litter tray.
