Placemats Made In Faux Leather (4-Pack) - 18" X 13" - Black

Very low quality. Giving new meaning to Faux.

My first impression while these where still in their plastic wrapper was that they looked very nice and exactly what I had been looking for. But when I opened the package I smelled a very strong petroleum odor. It was so bad I had to place them on my outside table to air out. I just checked them again and they still smell very strongly. I'm very glad I read the other reviews because I will not put them under the faucet, causing them to curl at the edges. If the black starts to chip off after a couple of uses they will be returned, because $29.90 for 4 is just too much to pay for junk.2nd review-I'm very disappointed in these place mats! I waited to use them with a new table I had ordered. After only a week the "Premium Faux Leather" is chipping off. I think it is actually paper that is painted. It is really that thin. At least plastic would have lasted longer. I painted in the chips with a black sharpie marker. Also, something else I didn't notice at first is two of the mats corners had been bent up and showed white lines where bent. I do not recommend these place mats. They are garbage and way over priced.

These placemats look attractive on a fine dining table. The faux leather vinyl looks and feels like real leather with a low luster finish. They are easy to wipe off. The metal corners add a fine touch. The drawback of these mats is that the edges have a tendency to curl slightly upward, particularly at the corners. Even after leaving the mats turned upside down on a flat surface for days, they still have a tendency to curl slightly upward when turned right side up. This creates a visual annoyance. Finally the light fuzzy padding on the reverse side picks up very fine crumbs or other food particles from the table that are difficult to dislodge, if one is fussy about the reverse side appearance.

I was pretty pleased with the look of these placemats. They lay flat and were large enough for flatware and a charger. My biggest complaints are how they look after 3 uses. They are chipping. Forks and knives are leaving gauges and the black is peeling off. So they are now speckled with white spots and look old an cheap. I really wanted to like them but they are a little too pricey to go this quickly.

OK, but the black does come off... and don't put under the faucet to clear off as it warps.

Beautifully finished with metal corners - adds to the look & stabity. My husbands reaction was: great, buy more of them!
