Is the ring magnetic also on the outside? With this on can i stick my phone to metal objects like gym equipment?

We regret to say that the outside of the grip is not magnetic and it's unable to stick the phone to metal objects.

I own the clear & leather magsafe cases. why doesn’t this securely attach to the clear? yet attaches securely to the leather case.

Please note that this phone grip is incompatible with non-magnetic phone cases.

Can the ring be pushed in? In other words, if I put this on my phone and the ring is in the flat position, can it be pushed into the phone/case?

Don't really understand the question fully. This phone grip attaches to the phone itself, or you put on top of some magnetic case. The key ring (silver one) itself is flush against the phone at 180 degrees. You can pull it out as it goes up to 160 degrees to use it as a stand or wherever your finger would feel most comfortable. You're able to turn the phone grip it in any direction (left or right)
