yes, it will work with any canon camera but this is the receiving unit for your flash when its off camera. You will need the transmitter unit to trigger this unit.

Q: Will this receiver work with Alien Bee Studio lights?

Yes. Plus this into the alien bee and then have a trigger on top of your camera.

Q: I bought a godox 860 ii c and i have a canon eos r. would it work?

It is my understanding that the 'C' designation on Godox gear means it will work with Canon, period. I use Godox-C components with my EOS-R with no issue.
