[Old Version] TurboTax Premier 2021 Tax Software, Federal and State Tax Return with Federal E-file [PC/Mac Disc]

I did not include a photo because that would be silly. Lol. Turbo Tax can be a great tool for many tax return filers in that it is an inexpensive way to do your taxes at home at your own pace. You can load the disk into your laptop and work on it a little at a time or you can do the entire return at one sitting. I like to work on it, save my work, and then come back to it to work on it some more. It checks for errors, it does the calculation for you, it lets you update changes, it takes new tax laws into account, it carries your basic information over from previous years that you have used it, you can compare to see what numbers you plugged in the year before, it lets you efile, it lets at least one other person use it for their taxes, etc. They offer tech support but I have never had to use it. Don’t sit in an accounting office and pay high prices. Give Turbo Tax a try.

When Amazon initially put TT up for sale at a discount I read the reviews that told of problems loading, using, saving the program hoping that Intuit would fix it. I waited a month or so then ordered the program. Obviously, by then, the discount had ceased so worst case was going to be paying full price for a corrupt program. However, that was not the case. I received my package very timely, installed it on my seven-year-old computer still running Outlook and 8.1, and went through my taxes without any problem at all. Downside was I paid substantially more taxes this year, but I believe, as I have in the ten to twelve (or more) years past, is that TurboTax is the best tax software available for the average person. But I am prejudiced since I have never used anything else since Parson's disappeared. I remember a quote made some years ago by a politician involved in some sort of complicated "tax reform" at the time. When he was asked would the changes to the tax laws be complicated for him and regular tax payers, he said, in so many words, "I don't worry about it, I let TurboTax figure it out." Good enough for me then, good enough for me now.

My disc did not load completely. One suspect file caught by my PC virus software for a potential malware threat. Ended up downloading Tubotax from the Internet. All files loaded from my downloaded file.

Easy to use and accurate results - that's the headline. If you gather all your information, receipts and forms before starting, it is really fast to do your taxes. NOTE: The product can be installed from the CD or you can download the application. If you think you will install on multiple computers (you are licensed to use this product on multiple computers) be sure you consider whether to install from the CD or to download the application. If you install on the first computer with the CD, you must use a CD to install on any subsequent computers. I installed with CD. But when I tried to install on another of my computers that had no CD/DVD drive, I was not able to get the download version to install on my second computer.

I was somewhat very concerned almost hesitant purchasing from Amazon after reading the Amazon reviews with purchasers having installation issues .... what if I also experienced these same issues then having to fight returning "opened" software to Amazon? My concerns were completely misplaced as the installation went perfectly up to and including importing the old 2020 prior year's Turbo Tax returns. All this leaves are to wait patiently until all the 1099's start rolling in. Amazon has made me a future Turbo Tax purchaser especially since they have pricing and promotions making it cheaper than my prior "go to" Costco retail location. Been using TT Premier for over 10+ years simply because it is easy to use, intuitive, and allows online tax return submission. Importing from Vanguard, Schwab, and Wells Fargo alone makes TT Premier a time and moneysaver each tax season.

I’ve used TurboTax for years. I have extensive investments so being able to import info from my brokers is a real convenience. Not so great for manually inputting data for Master Limited Partnerships so I finally sold those. Last year’s challenge was claiming the foreign tax credit instead of taking the deduction for dividend payouts from 4 countries, which I’ve done every year. TT software should be able to handle that info which is imported from my broker. I tried various methods, but my tax return was rejected after each one so I gave up and filed for an extension. Months later I found the fine print in TT instructions and it was a time consuming procedure to get the credit. The IRS finally accepted my return and I wrote down what to do for this year.

I’ve used different versions of Turbo Tax over the years. For 2021, I had a complicated return, with the sale of property, two rentals, and two stock investments. Turbo Tax guided me through most of it without a hitch. I did have to manually manipulate the program to enter the 2nd rental. The “how to” came up through their robust user Q&A feature. Federal filing is fairly easy and free. State filing costs an additional $25 to do it electronically. You do have the option to print your state return and mail it in. Turbo Tax updates it’s program every time there are changes to tax laws, which is almost constantly. It’s a nice feature and build confidence that a completed return will be accurate.
