Cast Acrylic Sheet - 12" x 24" - Black - 3mm Thick - Used in Art Installations, Models, Display & Signage, Windows, Aquariums, Trophies, Picture Frames, Furniture - Lightweight & Easy to Fabricate

The 12" x 24" sheet I received was perfect for replacing a broken base on a display case. The project required high gloss surfaces and edges. Even though I'm no expert and didn't have the proper tools, my finished product was a very good facsimile of the OEM part. I was able to forego scoring and snapping to cut out pieces and instead used a very dangerous circular saw blade on the end of the flexible cable attachment of my Dremel Tool.Obviously, my cuts weren't perfect, so I was easily able to create straight sides and work toward a high gloss finish on the edges. The acrylic sheets are protected with plastic sheets on both sides to preserve the high gloss finish. Finishing the edges was accomplished with a standard block sander and progressively finer grit sandpaper. Ultimately, I got a high gloss shine on the edges using polishing compounds and a wax made for plastic.Pros: It is what it says it is. I experimented with gluing pieces together with Flexifile liquid plastic weld. Once dried and cured the joint was stronger than I expected. It's a good product and available in many different colors, so you're only limited by your imagination in possible uses. I did not have the proper tools to complete the product; however, even improvising gave me a good result.Cons: Finding and using the proper items for working the material may be somewhat difficult and a learning curve; however, that is true of any product similar to the acrylic I used.

This product measures ~2.4 mm thick. All of my work would need to be re-worked since the thickness is not what was advertised.

Wasn't a clean cut but it was good enough for me, I'd buy again
